Ventimg. Boosted a priest with my shadow lands boost. Have run through 4 vessels at level one without completing the basic quest. S Priest ramp up is too slow and I died. Disc and Holy dont have the dps to kill the boss before sanity expires. Kind of hard to progress when the character cannot do the fundamental gearing quests. Garbage class.

I easily run through 5 mask solos as shadow and it’s even my offspec maybe u don’t know how to do mechanics

Shadow is very very gear dependant. If you’re low ilvl, you’re going to struggle
We scale so well with secondary stats that high ilvl is required for us to function properly.
Also, some general tips for visions:
Run misery to apply dots much easier
Run psychic horror for extra cc
Get rank 3 Breath of the Dying Major. This essence is hands down the best for Shadow (in visions). It’s basically a 150k instant cast every 5 seconds as long as it kills the target
Eat the Ghastly Ghoulash food for the buff. It heals 2% per second for 60 minutes while in a visions. This will help you so much with survivability
Also bring some K’babs. They restore 100 sanity after eating for 10 seconds, on a 3 min CD. Very helpful after you complete a zone. I usually port back to cathedral and immediately eat one.

Thanks for this, going to start tackling 5 masks this week. I figured purification protocol was best major for aoeing down trash.
Yes it is best hands down it will stun most of adds in there as well.
Take visions easy as priest until your tree is full.
I just ran 2 areas until my tree was full than it was cake sauce.
Our class is weak AF though I must say when it comes to things like visions.
Almost impossible to cast at times too, the timing of s priests spells compared to the mobs mechanics was excruciating.

You don’t say!? Shadow is incredibly gear dependent but does just fine when you understand the spec. If you’re not willing to put any work into a class and expect it to be top tier from day one go play a DH

It can be good, but the CD is long, and not great single target
Breath just gives you a really reliable burst ability, which is something Shadow lacks. It also doubles as a very strong execute
It’s nice when you dot everything, and mobs get a little low, then you can just start picking them off instantly
The iris is way better for visions.
Seconding breath major.
Over the course of a vision, Breath will kill far more enemies than iris
Iris is too restricted by it’s long CD.
Breath hits for 150k (300k on crits) every 5 seconds. It’s far more damage than iris can give, plus it’s instant and can’t be interrupted if a madness or mob cc hits you

For breath to hit for 150k you need to be pretty geared like above 460(?) or something I believe it also needs to be from a killing blow(or it’ll do somewhere around 60-90k depending on your gear). I am not denying that breath is good, it’s very nice! I personally prefer to just run in and grab as much crap as possible and then iris it down.
Such as what Voidcaller was saying, Shadow is extremely gear dependent. In the order I see is Essences = Azerite =/> Secondaries =/> Corruption > Ilvl.
The best way to do a full clear is getting Gift and Elite Exterm. While a DH can do a full clear with Elite Exterm, Shadow needs Gift. Another major suggestion would be having Focusing Iris Major, Breath Minor, Purification Protocol Minor.
Ghastly Goulash is key to not being slapped around like a wet noddle. Also drums do not hurt either. For earlier runs with a lower cloak level, K’babs are beneficial.
Intangibility is really helpful when you get stuck in a horrible situation, while Physic horror is also extremely useful for adds which need a stun and or fear to stop them. Misery just allows for an easier time to dot.
Overall, Shadow does blow early, however when you get gear, you can slap some rot out hard. Plus, you can do a five mask while watching T.V. due to your dots doing most of the work. Except for Rexar that guy easy sanity up like a hungry animal. “Tip, Hit him hard, wait for the boars, Beam, Easy game.”

The issue woth people like you is that you fail to realise that you dont need to do visions asap. Rake in those essences while you gear up, then go wtfpwn visions once youre adequately geared.

I’m really new to the class and while I think the OP’s “ventimg” is hyperbolic, it does seem tougher than warlock and mage.
Most classes could use a talent or two baseline, but of the clothee DPS I’ve played, shadow priest seems to need it the most.
