Ganking from safe spot in capital cities?

There’s been a hunter on top of the entrance to Stormwind for days, either attacking players as they go by or even griefing the buff npcs. Is this reportable and do GMs care? They’re in an inaccessible spot that can only be reached via clever use of game mechanics and wall jumping.

Yes, safe spotting isn’t allowed. Report them.

I’ve reported them (sometimes he has a mage friend) multiple times across multiple characters over the several days they’ve been there and still they remain.

Blizzard is rather slow with their actions unfortunately, and it could be a lack of other people reporting.

I do know when it was a big problem (especially when it was in a neutral city and you couldn’t fight back or you’d die to guards whereas they wouldn’t) they were pretty active and fast, but at this point that might not be a thing.

In Vanilla WoW they had GMs that would always watch the game world to port people out of safe spots/places they weren’t supposed to be in.

I miss that old school Blizzard :frowning:

It’s gotten embarrassing. It’s the same with reporting fly hacks for weeks and months before they get banned. Meanwhile, ten others pop up to take their place.

Blizzard doesn’t care. A pair of shamans hang out on the fort above the Dragonslayer NPCs in SW on my server. They sometimes log in to instantly kill a few people with no fear of retaliation.

Blizzard is on break until all the big events are over, so you most likely won’t see any bans till they stop focusing on blizzcon, championship, and world firsts.

Instead of merely right click reporting, fill out a full blown gm ticket

Why not just kill the Hunter?

At that position the Hunter can take 1 step backwards and be completely out of LoS. He’s free to step to the edge and blast you whenever he chooses.
You need to jump up and then around the side of a mountain in Elwynn to slowfall down to where he is. Very few players know how to do it, and he could simply shoot you as you’re floating down on your mount. Guards obviously do nothing.
It’s a terrain exploit/safespotting which is a bannable offence, but Blizzard doesn’t enforce their own rules so it’s easiest to avoid the area or make sure you’re not flagged.

They are doing gods work

If they are using an exploit to get where they are, then yeah report them.

Wait, I’m so confused. How are they doing this (I don’t mean getting on top of the entrance, I mean ability to reach so far)? You say “Entrance”, but when I think “SW Entrance”, I think of the Red Spot (in my picture, provided). Unless, you’re saying they’re on the Yellow Spot? Or, they’re Fly Hacking? https://i.imgur.com/mKpAJvq.jpg

EDIT: Or, is it the Arches, between the Red and Yellow Spots?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anqQedW45IY Enjoy. They just hop from the arch to that roof it’s connected to.

OK, that makes more sense. 'Cause I was trying to think how they can have access to BOTH the Players and the NPC, at the same time. It’s tricky for PvP Servers (IK this is on a PvP Server because there’s not really a Gankfest happening on PvE Servers) because IDK WHEN Blizz wants to classify the killing of the NPC as “Zone Disruption”. PvE Servers is easier to spot. PvP Servers is trickier.

I’m more concerned about the NPC sniping. The Players, I’m not so sure. SW is a safe spot (for Alliance) so is Elwynn Forest. The only players this Hunter can have access to, are the ones entering (from Contested Zones) and exiting (perhaps, those exiting just got out of a BG?) via the FP. Lowbies entering in from the Forest are safe. So are the ones who have been safe in SW for over 5 minutes.

I’m betting, they’re sniping the FP, and those entering SW, that way. Exiting SW, not so much. IK some (not all) want to say the details don’t really matter, but they really do. The more detailed, the better Blizz can counter the issue.

That’s not a safe spot and the GM’s won’t do anything . Why dont you get some friends and gank the hunter … he can’t kill all of you till you land where he is .

You don’t know what a safe spot is.
