Gaming Isn't Fun Anymore

sound like a YOU problem. go work on your IO level then? im sure there are guilds you can join that are more relaxed in that sense. want to play in the endgame with the hardcore then your gonna need to be a certain level of some sort or skill. like in every other MMO.

The bleeding edge crowd who may change what they view as “viable” on a weekly basis based on fixes, buffs or nerfs is truly intolerable, from Classic to Retail.

Classic would have been a perfect time to try put some of those long forgotten specs, as it was known by now that although you might not clear cotent quite as fast, there was nothing generally wrong with bringing a Shadow Priest, Boomkin, or Ret Pally along if they were committed. Instead, how to play the game the “right” way became even more draconian.

As for retail, nothing approaching the imbalance of Classic exists. Unless you are doing VERY high keys (well past Keystone Master) or same-patch Mythic difficulty of raids, there is no reason a Resto Shaman or Destro Lock can’t be a great member of your group.

The problem is that certain people have figured out what is the absolute best build if played perfectly, and people demand them, not realizing that well over 90% of players DON’T PLAY PERFECTLY and would perform better playing something they are familiar with and enjoy rather than fitting a square peg into a round hole.

Again, unless you are talking about the first month or so of Naxx in Classic when no one has gear from that raid, or bleeding-edge content in retail, there is no actual reason any spec can’t be an asset. Most of the people who demand certain things from players aren’t actually elite themselves, they have just read what elite people say and watched what they do. They didn’t come up with it on their own. Nor can they likely execute it.

In WoWs case when you throw all the meaningful progression behind stringent looting systems then people are going to be more snappy and bitter. Since they can’t get their fix.

Most everyone else are just chasing battle-pass or seasonal trends while diluting an essence of the game in ways to try and monetize it further.

People will get sick of it eventually, they’ll let the quality slip too far and they’ll stop paying for it or better yet the law catches up with the industry and starts regulating the type of systems you can condition players with.

I remember when I got Destiny 2, got to the max level the game was like “Welp all you can do now is grind! Mindlessly!” and said “Nope”.

Haven’t touched it since. I’d of pulled out of WoW completely if the leveling experience didn’t exist.

That’s how to do it! It’s what I did.
I’ve done way more m+ and raiding the past few years than ever before with no stress.

Because it’s easier than being social, trying to find like minded people. It’s easier to blame an aspect that they think is an impassable wall vs seeking an actual solution.

most people dont place their literal self worth on a score in a video game. Its a tool to be used and I think most people understand that

raider IO has never been elitist. I doubt you understand what elitism means if this is your interpretation. Nobody has fun when a player that isnt skilled enough joins a high key. They drag the whole group down and ruin the fun of 4 other people. Thats why raider IO is here. Its a quick way to tell if someone has the experience needed to do the key, its not perfect but its better than nothing.

I say its an elitist mindset to demand people ruin their own fun in order to include you, even when you make no effort to get to the level needed to participate. IO score means nothing in +2 keys. Your score is the reward for trying. Not sitting on the forums and demanding to be dragged through

I loved 4E for this.

Make a deck of cards that has each attack with relevant bonuses etc already spelled out. Than sleeve them in green, red and black sleeves as you use an ability you flip it over (except green as they were at-will abilities.) When the DM declares a long or short rest you can flip the associated color cards back over and use them again. It made book keeping extremely easy.

3E Druid was a nightmare between wild shape (need to track stats for each relevent shape) companions (additional rule set and more stats) and being a 9th level spell caster (even worse if you had 9th level spell casting abilities in multiple classes.)

Although the shadow illusionist was almost as bad with its extended spell list and tracking how effective a spell was if the target believed or disbelieved the illusion. And it got kind of silly when an illusionary fireball hurt more when someone disbelieved in it.

Destiny 2 is horrible for a multitude of reasons, but the #1 reason is they did the equivalent of Blizzard just chopping Outland, Northrend and Pandaria off of Azeroth and pretending they never existed because the devs didn’t account for how big the game would be as an install on a console.

I actually LOVE how tight the shooting is, but when they took away the 3 or 4 campaigns I spent almost $100.00 on when it was in the Battlenet launcher and just removed them from existence, I was out. Most egregious example of content removal a comapany has ever engaged in.

Idk. The topic is super misleading because they blame raiderio solely for the reason why gaming isn’t fun xD

Ugh please no…
I don’t miss spamming trade for an hour or more trying to fill a raid… Then having to inspect for gear and achievements…

That’s what the io naysayers don’t understand xD

I played the first one through and was sick of it really.

Particularly the unfinished, buggy raids.

Oh, no, I’m totally fine with IO and ratings and all that. Just in response to what Ion had said I wanted to take it to the extreme lol Fact is, there will always be a way for people to check relative skill and people will use it. Might as well have it in game. Though I like RIO specifically bc I can see how many have been timed as well.

Haha yea I get you, that was just my ‘oh god no please why’ xD

They’ve done a good job at simplifying most aspects of the game, integrating io has done so much good.
Tbh they are probably just mad because they get declined so much and refuse to make their own groups.

It’s also still hard to get into a heroic raid without having to link aotcs and thats been going on as long as aotc has existed xD

Gaming isnt fun as it used to be. That is very obvious.

The video in the OP has literally nothing to do with the argument put forth in the text-box. Even if the video was by someone whose opinion we could be convinced to give a crap about, why would you misrepresent the quote as being related to the video?

The video is almost entirely about monetisation of video games, and has some valid points, and your quote is about addons that represent features that have been present in games almost as long as games have existed.

Nothing is making you play with addons, or with people using them. If other people don’t want to play WITH YOU because of them, that’s your problem. Find people who share your view. If you can’t, it’s because people disagree with you.

How dare you sully the name of Rincewind with such godawful posts as this.

Pretty sure they also copied that text from a previous post. Im like 95% sure I’ve read that exact paragraph or close to.

I never played 4e so my entire exposure to it is the D&D community’s absolute hate train for it. I went Pathfinder → 5e, and now there’s talk of playing Pathfinder 2e with all the OGL stuff.

I always disliked the way prepared spellcasters in Pathfinder and older D&D worked where if I wanted to use magic missile more than once I needed to use up multiple spell slots to do it.

I’m glad D&D changed how that worked from its older editions, though if we go Pathfinder again they didn’t change that so if I’m ever not a DM it’s back to Sorcerer for me.

Well let’s see, I started to play games back when coleco telstar 6040 pong game was all the rage. Then moved onto the atari console. It was not long after that I was onto the Commadore 64. I have seen a lot of game changes though my 51 years of life so far. With every generation there is always that big rage of what is hip for its time.

Game companies always seem to come and go, and others stick around. They try to innovate with the times and tech. The players either also adapt or are lost in the dust of living in the past.

I am not sure where I get the OP’s statement one complaining about player IO add on, then playing a video stating the gaming industry produces bad games just out for a quick cash grab. Don’t really know where those two very different idea’s really mate together.

All I can say if Video Gaming is no longer an enjoyment for them, then maybe find another hobby. Everyone ages and things you once enjoyed as kid or young adult, you may not enjoy in your mid-life age or older more sr age. It may not be that a lot of things so much changed in the nuts and bolts of how computer games are designed or even played. It’s just that your taste has matured beyond that form of entertainment.

Yeah its starting to look like DnD is pulling out Blizz caliber mistakes with the OGL.

What I don’t get is that they didn’t allow it in 4E and its one of the main reasons it failed. Fans couldn’t support the system. Hell TSR (along with RIFTS) failed because they sued everyone who was a fan and produced DnD related materials.

If they really want to make money off the virtual table top than they should create programs that allows them to partner with people to make new animations items etc and sell them.

I’m probably going pathfinder myself because they are opting for the ORC license which so far they have said will include language that states it can never be revoked.

You know what isn’t fun?
failing at keys because players like OP do dogwater damage and die constantly to avoidable mechanics, healers that don’t heal 50% of what they should, tanks that don’t do proper routing etc.
