Ever since the issue with the game going down today, I started having problems with the game seriously lagging on me, so I restarted my computer. Once I got it back up, none of the games would load properly. They just freeze up and say, “not responding.” I have gone through the forums to find every fix there is, but nothing is working. All of my drivers are up to date, I have restarted my computer twice so far, deleted the Blizzard Entertainment folder, deleted the Battle.net folder but the games never fully load. I have gotten it as far as selecting the character on WoW and I get the Shadowlands loading screen. Is anyone else having this issue? Thanks in advance for any other advice you might have!!
It happened to me as well earlier. I noticed I’m having a problem in game with my Bnet not showing any friends on, when the launcher clearly shows there are.
I tried exiting the game the first time and the whole screen froze and wasn’t responding. I pulled up the task manager and was able to finally close it.
I logged back in and bnet was working fine in game.
A few minutes later, I was in an instance, jumped down and the game crashed and wasn’t responding.
I logged back in and my friends list is empty again.
I decided to let it be for now but when I logged off my Druid just now. I’m on my character screen, but it says I’ve been disconnected with the error WOW51900325.
It gave me that error a few times the other day as well, but I wasn’t ever actually disconnected.
So, I recently moved all of my games to my D drive, since my C drive was full and I could not update the games any longer. I just did a complete uninstall of the Battle.net app. When I went to reinstall it, I changed the path to my Blizzard folder on my D drive. It automatically selected all of the games I moved there and is now updating. I will let you know if this works! It looks like it might take a while. lol
Update: Well, I got it to load to the character selection screen and now I am going to wait patiently to see if it gets past the Shadowlands loading screen!
It’s working! It took forever to load but that may be because of the move+server issue+uninstall/reinstall of Battle.net app! Just took me a while to figure everything out! ![]()
Edit: There is still a REALLY bad lag in the game! My latency shows 60 and my fps is 30+! ![]()
I may try that if it doesn’t straighten up soon. Thank you for the update! I hope it continues to work for you. ![]()
My progress, every time I switch characters it’s giving me that error.
I logged out of the game, went to the launcher and tried to do the repair. It did a quick download and install.
When I logged into the game, friends were showing up again. I was on my monk and when I summoned Xuen, my screen froze again and the game is not responding.
Honestly, Nickaeladin, I don’t think it was my game or computer. I think it had to do with whatever happened to the authentication server earlier today. It took forever for the game to load, once I was patient enough to LET it load. After it came up, the lag was so bad, I couldn’t even see my character as I tried to navigate through the landscape. It has slowly but surely improved over the past hour or so.
I know it’s not my computer itself as well. I just checked and my graphics driver is up to date.
I updated all my addons before I logged in today. I have Elvui and it’s been a bit wonky since last week, but I have updated it since then.
I’m going to keep looking, if it’s anything on my end, I should be able figure it out, I hope.
I haven’t had the issue with the bnet friends and the game not responding until today though.
I didn’t do a reinstall but I did do a couple of things that seemed to fix my issues.
I went into my firewall and made sure that battlenet and all my wow executables had access.
I had to wait for 5 minutes or so for my game to actually come up after hitting “play” on the launcher, like you did! Thank you for letting me know that you were able to do that. It also loaded on the wrong screen for me, so I had to reset that to my other monitor and change my resolution back to what it was before.
The firewall fix seems to have helped with my disconnects on the character select screen. I’ve been playing for a few hours now and the only time I had a DC was when my toon was drunk flying/swooping and that tends to happen once in a while since 9.05 or 9.1.
I put a limit on my foreground fps to 150 and that seems to have fixed the freezing and not responding issue maybe?
So far so good though! Hopefully it persists and hoping yours is working still as well!
Yeah, I ended up doing a complete uninstall/reinstall of all Blizzard games, including the addons. It’s still a little slow but it’s better than it was before. My firewall settings are fine for the battle.net app. I’m going to have to chalk this up to the games no longer being on my main hard drive. ![]()
Oh wow that bites! I’m glad it’s working for you, hopefully it will speed up.
I tried to load up Wotlk classic the other day before I loaded retail, to see if the problem loading would extend to it. There wasn’t any problem loading it and I was able to get into retail right away afterwards. Today when I get home, I’ll try to just load retail first and see if the problem comes back.
I rolled my API settings back to Direct X 11, which also turned off ray tracing, maybe that will help as well.
