Gameplay loading lag

After my loading screen is complete and I can see my gameplay screen, the screen is frozen for 15-20 secs. This happens anytime I go through a portal, enter a bg, dng, or /reload ui. I have removed all addons, reduced graphics settings, and deleted old folders. Nothing seems to work. I have tested my system hardware and no issues have been found. I have no issues once the 15-20 secs has elapsed. This did not occur until the second update on Wednesday after pre patch.

Not sure what kind of drive you use for storage. But this can affect load times, especially Hard Drives or external drives. A internal SSD is recommended.

For what it’s worth, I have the same issue and have an ssd. I’ve seen others report the same problem in other posts and on reddit. Something they did with the hotfix Wednesday is causing the 10-20 second freezing.

I’m also having the same issue.

I have really fast load screens but after the load screen is done the game freezes and sometimes windows gives me the game has stopped responding prompt.

I’ve also already reset the WoW interface with their instructions and am running no addons.

My game is installed on a M2 SSD.

Does the Ssd have a cooler on it?
They get hot and thermal slowdown.
If the drive is then max on in/out io… The drive forgets to …
I had a heatsink leftover and put it on my 512Gb and the cpu fan cooled.
That worked so I bought a PCIe x4 edge card with a heatsink … Installed…fast. My memory is 2666 so I can not get the full 32Gbps from the drive, but.

It’s not a hardware issue. I’ve narrowed it down to only happening on my MoP remix character and happens to non of my retail characters.

Ok…Do you have the toon …In the camp fire group? Move them up to the top…wait.
Do not click yet…untill you see all of them.
Select them…
Enter.
Wait for it to load…
Esc key for menu.
Options…
Change anything…
At bottom apply or something like that.
Restart your wow game…
Battle.net from the icon on your desktop…
Play…when … I only have to wait… 5 sec.
Select the same toon you were just on.
If free like me I log off mounted…if under 20 … Flappy flying… Just 2 x your space bar and i just hit space bar or unmount in air.
Log out and back in after you set your talents.
Do the edit … Move and resize.
Save it as a profile all can use…not exiles.
Restart computer…
Anyway how far can you get before you crash?

did you guys at one point do the worldPreloadNonCritical command? (or change is in the config file) am just trying to narrow it down

I didn’t and it’s only happening to 1 character. My demonhunter on MoP remix. It’s not happening to my priest on MoP remix.

So after testing multiple characters I thought that maybe the guild my character was in might have been causing it because everytime someone logged on in the guild we kept getting achievement spam.

Quitting the guild stopped my game from lagging out after load screen and fixed the crashes.

So Blizz messed something up with prepatch. Hopefully they figure out what it is and fix it for expansion launch.

I am as well experiencing the same issue across all of my characters since the pre-patch dropped. Game screen locks up and freezes for a good minute when I load into the game.

Also results in disconnections as well sometimes. All AddOn’s are up-to-date as I update each day on the CurseForge App. Checked Event Viewer and no issues there either. Also did a DxDiag and no issues found there as well.

My game client is on a SSD drive and my graphics card is an NVIDIA RTX 2060.

Noticing this too, there are just blatant chunks of land missing from ~40 yards in front of me during this. Or if I load into a dungeon, the quest NPCs spawn like a second after.

No addons temporarily, graphics driver is up to date, WoW’s on an SSD

I’ve only had these issues during prepatch

Are all of your characters in the same guild?

Yes. All of my characters are in the same Guild.

So this might be a long shot but like I said what happened to me was the guild achievements repopulating every time someone logged in. It caused my game to freeze up and sometimes stop responding and crash.

Gquit on one of your characters and see if it fixes it.
