Very soon, xbox news just tweeted a big picture with many IPs being shown.
Im wondering if wow tokens will be able to be used for microsoft stuff now…
This deal won’t be finalized for at least a year, so don’t get too excited.
I wish WoW would end up rolled into Gamepass but considering that ESO isn’t on Gamepass I’m doubtful.
Locking the game behind gamepass would just complicate things more than Microsoft would want.
Sadly the transfer will take a long while. They are saying Junish of 23. Expect things to take a little longer than that and maybe holidays of 23? Will have to do some research on this.

I came on to post this question also … wonder what Gamepass might look like for WoW. They need that $15/mo to fund the operation, I can’t imagine that killing the sub in order to have it on Gamepass. More likely it will be advertised and downloadable through Gamepass but you would still have to pay the sub fee … maybe a discount on the sub for Gamepass holders makes sense.
Also, holy crap they have both ESO and WoW … that hadn’t even dawned on me yet. I think ESO has a really good F2P model, it’s possible that over time we could see WoW adopt something similar. But I think the most likely case is that Bethesda and Blizzard operate mainly as independent subsidiaries and Microsoft just uses them to bolster some of their initiatives around Gamepass or the console. I don’t think Microsoft is as heavy handed under Nadella, they feel like a different company nowadays, so I think there is good reason to be optimistic. They will have to move quickly to clean up the Activision management issues though. It looks like the CEO will be gone after the deal closes and probably some other execs will be moved on or reassigned in my opinion. MS will have to be seen to be active on that issue because it’s their problem now. But hopefully they continue to support and fund new development or otherwise find a way to get the most out of them. Despite a lot of brain drain over the years Blizzard holds some amazing IPs.
I don’t think WoW is ready for game pass. WoW is a bit of an independent thing and designed dramatically differently from other MMOs, at least other successful MMOs. We’re still so shackled to the extreme grind seasonal player power models.
There is one other successful MMO using that model right now, Destiny 2, but they have normalized PvP, and to me that is where WoW has gone most wrong. And in Destiny’s credit, they keep the character stat grind in PVE largely limited to simple equipment enhancement. If they introduce a secondary player power system like that orb powers thing, they leave it in for a really long time and make it very simple to set up.
In WoW to PvP you must grind a huge amount of torghast, grind a huge amount of gold, grind a huge amount of honor, grind a huge amount of conquest, grind a huge amount of daily quests, grind quite a lot of heroic raid, grind a huge amount of sockets and gems and enchants, and I’m probably missing a few things, all to be not one shot fodder. That’s not even considering to PvP well you have to know all the key abilities of all 36 specs, how they can be used in combination, and learn all your own skills and abilities and when to use what when.
WoW just really isn’t suited to being a little part of a big games package. It is designed to be a lifestyle, and it probably wont be a part of game pass without a total shift in player power systems.

all the mmo’s in the game pass now were never really sub based. They were straight up buys like black desert with a store option buy after. pass jsut has you not pay the game upfront is all.

it could be wow without the gp you could only play base game and old expansions and either buy the newest expansion or buy gp to get it
