So I use an Azeron Cyborg to play. It’s basically a keypad with an Xbox analog stick. I’ve been using my setup for 8 months and it was great until the latest update. So what’s happening now is during or after movement with the analog stick whenever I try to move the camera with right or left click the camera jumps. The farther the cursor is from the center of the screen the farther the camera jumps. I made a short video of it in action. https://youtu.be/dFJTtwqP0jE
I tried it with the analog stick outputting as WSAD instead of as an analog sticked and the camera worked as normal. I know mouse + analog stick is pretty niche but might as well throw my issue out there. Any help would be appreciated.
I can not make the camera look around or spin my toon like my mouse does.
I have a microsoft sidewinder flight stick;
Gameport to usb connected doggle.
Auto camera works if the ground is flat , but any hill just does not correct the up/down only side to side.
Got home and it does not work anymore.
Sorry I reset all in game settings…why controller not working at this time.
I just heard back from tech support and the ticket was dismissed because “Steam Deck is not supported”. This is clearly a gamepad issue, not a Steam Deck issue. I’m going to keep pestering them until we get a better answer.
So I played with the console a little and “CursorFreelookCentering 1” causes the exact same behavior while using mouse + keyboard. So I guess something from the gamepad hotfixes on april 11th seems to be causing the cursor to center when you freelook with the mouse shortly after or while using a gamepad. Unfortunately none of the other CVars that I tried seemed to help.
The steamdeck is not supported for WoW or any of our games at the moment. Whether that will change in the future, I cannot say. Support will not be able to provide any assistance for any issues involving a steamdeck. You however can still work here with the community on troubleshooting.
Official controller support is also pretty new to WoW so there definitely could be some issues with that. And troubleshooting is pretty limited depending controller setup.
For Windows natively supported controllers, (controllers that require no extra software to work within Windows or the game) You can try resetting the control mappings in game, unplugging/disconnecting the controller and plugging it into a different port.
For non Windows natively supported controllers (controllers that require 3rd party software to function within Windows) you can try the above and you can try using a different program for the controller to see if that helps.
There are two different issues being discussed here and the original topic was specific to a controller, not the steamdeck, so for those wishing to do community troubleshooting for steamdeck issues, it is best to find a current active thread matching your issue or creating a new post.
Additionally for controller issues not solved by the above, I recommend also reporting the issue via the bug report forums so it can be investigated by our QA teams.
