Has anyone been able to use the Gamepad feature? I’ve look through all the settings and I’ve yet to see an option to enable it. I plugged the controller to see if an option would appear in but to no avail. Tried it on a PS4 and Xbox One controller. I tried to use /console GamePadId 1 which enabled it in the Pre-Patch PTR but it seems that the command no longer works either. Was the feature delayed or remove? anyone got a clue?
bump, also very interested in this.
FWIW the release notes definitely say that feature is live in Teusday’s patch.
The article that everyone keeps grabbing this command from is blatantly wrong but they’ve neither corrected nor removed it.
The actual command is: /console GamePadEnable 1
I would highly suggest using the ConsolePort addon if you play with a controller though. Feel free to ask me any questions, i’ve done M+, raiding, arena, tanked, healed, etc. all on a controller for the past 4 or so years with ConsolePort.
I’m very interested in that addon! Does it somehow set up your buttons to have a modifier? Kind of in the same vein as FFXIV?
Ironically enough, i’ve set my ConsolePort up to use the triggers as modifiers just like FFXIV as I played that also.
You can definitely do that, although you wont be able to emulate things like the double-tap modifiers to access additional binds.
If you use only the Blizzard add-in you’re forced to LT and LB and a host of other hard set mappings.
Thanks for the info! I’ll definitely look into that addon as soon as I get home! One last question, can you use LT+RT as its own modifier as well?
Sorry, had to pick kids up.
Yep, you can pretty much set your modifiers to any of the bumpers or triggers. You should see those options in the Settings tab of the in-game menu for ConsolePort.
It’s great. My niece and I have been leveling druid characters using it.
I’d used it before, along with the addon Immersion (changes up the quest text in a great way). Recently got my niece playing. She’s 4 and has been thoroughly enjoying it. We were level 50+ but now we’re back down lower lol, I’d just hit the third row of talents and was happy to get Guardian affinity. Doh…now to do it again.
I’d definitely recommend Immersion.
Yeah… we were asking about the native controller support that the change long said was supposedly in this release. The addons are not really in scope of this thread.
By typing /console GamePadEnable 1 you can enable the controller support. I played around with it, and it seems a bit clunky without any addons to help, honestly, but it does work. As a side note, the addon does work now without any additional software, which was required before. I recommend taking Raizen’s advice; it really helped me out.
I wonder if this will allow mods like Console port to hook into without the need of the External program, WowMapper.
I was checking out a video to see if the native version has a better way to mine or interact with world items, like stuff you click on to collect for a quest, but seems to work the same as with consoleport.
Looks like looting and likely interacting with quest givers and such isn’t improved over Consoleport either. It does it better. Wonder why more effort wasn’t put into it.
I was curious how well the native support would be done.
Hey, I’ve just started with ConsolePort a few days ago and I love it. I have some questions though, and it basically all revolves around targeting.
- What targeting setup do you use as a tank? I’ve done +9s as a blood dk, I’m using a Target Nearest Enemy keybind, which is basically tab targeting. Its ok with only two or three targets, but if theres a few targets + a bunch of minors enemies/minions… its becomes a nightmare; basically it’s like tab targetting through 10 mobs! Any suggesttions?
- How do you deal with targeting priority targets on the fly? Like interrupting a target at ranged, while you are tanking several mobs ? Or you are facetanking 10 mobs and one of them starts to cast - just tab through until you land on him? I find that takes too long, especially when its only a 2 second cast…
- What is your targeting setup for healing in m+?
-How do you handle playing a spec that damages AND heals constantly? Like rdruid or disc priest in m+/pvp? I have Target nearest enemy and Target nearest friendly keybinds… but that simply amounts to tab targetting… very hard to pull off in BGs or M+ (so far).
Aside from targetting issues, I’m having a BLAST.
OH one more issue: the Interact option in the Controls menu. I have mapped Triangle as my interact button, but when when I run over something to interact with, Triangle doesn’t work; I need to push in R3 trigger to pop up the mouse cursor, move the cursor using R3 stick over the item in question, and push in L3 trigger to interect with it. There’s got to be a better way to do this?
Also when I turn on the Interact button - all my nameplates go funny. Normally my nameplates are visible from 40yards on everything - but when I turn on the Interact button, all my nameplates disappear. I only use ConsolePort and Dynamic Cam - no other addons. I’m not sure how to troubleshoot this, and can’t find any answers online.
Thanks for your help! - YG

I’m not real sure on the tank targeting questions, but I did learn a bit the healing side of things one night when I was looking to find out how to more easily heal myself and my niece when we play.
From what I’ve found, there’s basically two main ways to target when healing.
You hit the key combo to enable the raid frame cursor, it’ll be orange and have the target’s portrait in it. You then use the D-pad to move it between frames, and casting healing spells on your main buttons will target whoever the frame cursor is on. There is a draw back…when the cursor is activated, anything on your D-pad won’t work till it’s disabled because the D-pad is then being used to move that cursor.
The other was as shown in this video.

You set up the hotkey to hold to target…it then throws a 1-2 button combo on the people on the raid frame, you punch in that combo to target them, and then hit your spell. The guy in the video actually shows himself doing a mythic dungeon at the end.
I found it very helpful to find out how both of these worked.
I originally had a macro set to target my niece, but with this, I can hold down a button, press a key (or two) and target here or anyone else in a party.
I’ve mainly been doing this casually, so haven’t really done any dungeons myself, but you can find videos of people healing in raids using these methods.
So far, I don’t think there is. There’s not currently a way for the game to know something to interact with is there. I tend to keep my mouse cursor close to a specific spot, and then position myself so I just have to click and clicking again t mine, herb, or grab an item. I’m not using triggers, though, just having to click my joystick twice. I click the stick to get the cursor, and move it if it’s not already on the item by my character positioning, then click it in again.
I remember having that working on skyrim once. Lean forward and you’d run…
On another fun note, I was playing wow on my phone just a bit ago.
I picked up a Razer kishi after reading up to see what it was and how it worked.
Used Moonlight android to stream my desktop to my phone (nvidia card needed), then using console port and the kishi to play.
Now I can sit in bed or on the couch and do tedious stuff easily instead of having to sit at my laptop in the other room streaming from my desktop (it ran Wow, but not nearly as well as with Moonlight/Gamestream)
Console and mobile markets seem viable
lol
Does it support the Nintendo Power Glove?
