Gamepad addon?

is there an addon that’ll make WoW playable with a gamepad? hunching over my keyboard hurts my back, and setting it on my lap with the mouse on the couch next to me, feels awkward…

Yep console port + WoW mapper makes for some really fun gameplay. I personally wouldn’t use it for anything serious like trying to push visions, but it genuinely feels a lot more fun.

I used an xbox controller, but a PS4 would probably be superior because of the touchpad.

wait, the curseforge page says that consoleport “requires third-party software for keyboard and mouse emulation.” and “Using third-party software is not prohibited by Blizzard as long as it doesn’t automate your gameplay.” now, i’m not the smartest cookie around, but uh… that sounds like it might get me in trouble (prohibited is a word i don’t really use/hear that often so… you might need to correct me if i’m wrong.)

WoWmapper is the third party software, that changes your controller input to keyboard input.

As far as I’m aware this doesn’t affect WoW and they have included that as a legal disclaimer.

However if it is a concern for you, I’d definitely not go through with it.

yeah it’s uh… it seems a bit sketchy to me. not that i don’t trust third-party things (since, y’know addons are 3rd party technically) but having to run a program, on-top of WoW is a little… oof, worrying to me.

I think that’s a fair concern. I also work in the same industry. I wish you well on your decision.

still appreciate your suggestion though, so… thank you for it.

Could you do a arcade stick? :stuck_out_tongue: I’d totally level a monk and pretend im punching in combo’s

I’d imagine so, though the options listed were PS4, switch/wii controller and Xbox.

Monk is one of the better classes for it, minus ring of peace everything else works well.

WoWmapper (the 3rd party program that you run with ConsolePort) is safe. I ran that whole setup for a little while during Legion.

That aside, I’m not sure why you’re hunched over your keyboard? Maybe setting up your play area differently would make more of a difference than anything else.

You could also use Steam.

Properly configure Steam Big Picture Mode to your gamepad and add WoW to your steam library using the “add other game” option and then launch with Big Picture Mode.

Heck, there might even be pre-existing WoW-based gamepad layouts available through Steam Big Picture Mode.

But WoWMapper shouldn’t be a big problem:

If going with a game pad I’d go with something like the Logitech G-13, Razor Nostromo or any othe multi key game pad

Just go on amazon and search “lap desk.” They are inexpensive and you should be able to find one that is wide enough for a keyboard & mouse. They typically have memory foam padding and are comfy to use. I have a small one because I use a naga/tartarus combo but it’s very comfy and one of the best things I ever bought myself for couch gaming.

It’s fine, you are not using the software to cheat, you are remapping your keyboard.

You are not botting or anything so go for it.

I hate to bring up an old topic but I’m really itching for a controller setup right now. I’m worried Blizzard may have gotten stricter with external applications in recent months though. Has anyone here ran into trouble using this yet?

Try something like a razer Tarturus. It’s a gaming keypad and those work fine with wow

I know this a necro, but…

Shadowlands offers some really good native controller support that I believe is coming with the pre-patch. I don’t play with a controller so I am sure some of the regulars who play controllers will know more, but from what I have seen/understand there won’t really be a huge need for addons to play with controller come the 13th
