Game will not launch

Wow retail game will not launch. After pressing play on the Blizzard client, the game will say it is loading, but there is no disk movement, and the game will not load. I have tried repairing and a full reinstall of the game with no luck. I have also tried launching directly from the exe, and it is the same result.

I believe the GPU driver is up to date, though I think I picked up a GPU hang. I wonder if you have 3 monitors, and if temporarily switching to 1 might help. Which drive is wow installed on? What security do you use? Any form of Citrix work managing software. I see a VPN, but no reason that would block wow.exe from starting.

Let’s skip to MSInfo part 3 or 4

This issue started happening with Tuesday’s update. You are correct, I do have 3 monitors. I have 2 drives. Windows is installed on my C drive and I have a second ssd J drive where wow is installed. I have no security other than Microsoft Windows defender and there are no other Citrix or work setups. Here are more logs:

I see you have some background apps known to cause conflicts with WoW.

Overlay issues:

Synapse3 c:\program files (x86)\razer\synapse3\wpfui\framework\razer synapse 3 host\razer synapse 3.exe

Overwolf c:\program files (x86)\overwolf\overwolflauncher.exe

Might trigger anticheat:

GNE_DualMonitorTools c:\program files (x86)\dual monitor tools\dmt.exe

Riot Vanguard “c:\program files\riot vanguard\vgtray.exe”

Aside from these, you have hundreds of the same error, so it’s really difficult to look through them for the actual cause of this issue. It might be a corrupt GPU driver, bad overclock, or something else.

Do a Disk Cleanup and choose to delete the error logs. Then try launching WoW again and collect a new MSInfo.

After doing some more research, it looks like the wow.exe file found in my retail folder does not have a valid digital signature, which I think is causing an access denied error when trying to launch the game. I have tried a full install of the game and multiple attempted repairs, and each time, the wow.exe still has an invalid signature. I found the access denied error in the battle.net logs that are created when attempting to launch the game.

I am going to try and do an install of the game on a sparate computer and find a wow.exe with a valid signature to see if that works. Again, this issue only started after the update on Tuesday, the 24th, so something must have happened that is causing this issue.
