Game performance

I’m having a problem where, after about 10-15 minutes of playing, the screen sometimes freezes briefly, for half a second at a time.

When I first start the game, it’s extremely smooth at 150 FPS on ultra settings, even in the center of Silvermoon.

After about 10 minutes, it starts dropping to 80-90 FPS, and the drop is noticeable but 100% playable. (in Harandar it gets worse)

After 15 minutes, it starts freezing very briefly, forcing me to close and reopen the game.

I’ve already disabled all add-ons, but it didn’t solve the problem.

Reading about this issue, I saw that some people reported it as a cache problem and an SSD issue.

Is this common, or is it just happening to me?

There’s a tracked quests bug that was pretty popular recently.

Are you playing on DirectX12? If so, change it to 11 in graphics settings. Fixed a bunch of issues for me.

i dont remember, i’ll check later, but i think it is 12.
11 will make the game worse?

They have had reports since prepatch. They don’t care. Thank you for your purchase.

I won’t claim to understand the entire situation, but from what I’ve gathered, there are optimization problems on someone’s end between Blizzard and Microsoft and neither are admitting fault and fixing the problem. Using 11 theoretically is worse than 12, but not practically because 12 doesn’t properly work in WoW.

It could be a gpu cooling problem. The fact that it gets worse at 10 minutes and unplayable at 15 are telltale signs of bad cooling.

But in the other games are fine…
Resident Evil 9 Requiem is recent and plays perfectly… 2, 3 hours.
POE2 and D4 also works fine, this never happened.

I would still run stress tests anyway, especially since wow is more cpu bound than the other games you mentioned working fine.

LBGTQ has ruined Blizzard.

Tested direct X11, my fps dropped about 30% i don’t know why…
Maybe i need to just quit game every 30 min for the performance go back to normal.
