Had to relog to get out of permanent combat, a few minutes after that opened the launcher and there is a game update, I updated and it stopped at 1/4th of the bar to completion with a message saying “Something wrong with the file”, ok I tried three times to get to work and it seems to stop at Checking residency. I tried scanning and repairing the issue, no fix. I tried restarting the client, no fix either. Any suggestions to fix the issue without having to reinstall the game (which its easy but I don’t feel like reinstalling)?

I was having the same problem but resolved it by rebooting my computer. I hope it works for you as well.

having the same issue, so i am running repair, then will re-boot puter see what happens
having the exact same issue, only not having any luck with any of the steps. not even rebooting helped. guess we just wait and see if it straightens itself out, it is patch day afterall, and somethings are just wonky on these days (but i hope sooner rather than later
I was having the issue where it was showing a ~61MB patch but 0b/s speed. The update agent process was downloading data though, so I just let it run for a couple more minutes and it finished.
So you mean under alt control delete the Blizzard Update Agent was downloading? And eventually finished? My download hasnt moved for quite some time but it shows the blizzard update agent is working, slowly but it is.
