I’ve tried everything, in the link, deleted my security program Norton even.
Rebooting then restarting (battle.net) and waiting a short time for update to start?
IF by that you mean click the red circle in the corner of the window and coming back later, that does’nt change anything.
Hello I’M having the same issue and I have done just about everything they have mentioned. I was going to try and delete the game then reinstall it, but that is going to take a while, so not sure if i want to head down that road just yet.
No, he means closing the Bnet app and totally restarting the computer so that any extra Bnet processes are closed down. You want to force a clean restart.
If that does not work, clear the Bnet cache and repeat the reboot
Even after I turn off and restart my computer htis issue affects retail mode so I will try th he cache thing. How do I do that without erasing my account?I think I read in the manual when I first got the game in 2006 that deleting the game from your computer erases your account?
It does not erase your account. All your characters are saved server side.
Your account is your email/password for your bnet then your game license.
The only things on your computer are addons and some transient settings that may be annoying, but you can redo those.
THis has failed. There is no file named Macintosh HD or “go” option in finder, but there is a blizzard/user/prefs thing, I deleted that, opened up the battle/net program, and still no change. Infinite act the message comes up almost immediately when I click "Update’.
And now perhaps your should be posting in the mac technical support forum.
Howdy Tholaren,
To fix up a BB8 error you want to uninstall and reinstall WoW. This is caused by corrupt folders.
Uninstall game <–this will have Mac steps as well if you need assistance there.
Wha tif I’m missing some of the Cds for Burning cursade, th, etc etc? How do I reinstall so the game is the current version? Will I have to pay for Classic again?
Nobody uses discs anymore it’s a digital download through Battlenet.
I jsut uninstalled it as the instructions said (But under World of Warcraft’s icon and not the WoW Classic Icon), reinstalled, it, and when I hit “Update”, STILL the same outcome!
Hey there,
Go ahead and try this then to completely remove the Blizzard App and all supporting data:
- Click Options (gear symbol next to the install/update/play button)
- Click Show in Explorer. (leave this window open while you perform step three.)
- Go back to Options and select Uninstall and go through the process to remove the core files and association to the desktop application. (Skip to step for if unable to perform this uninstall)
- Check the opened file explorer window to see if the game folder was deleted when the game was uninstalled. If it was not, delete the folder manually.
- Leave the explorer window open but exit the Battle.net Desktop Application.
- In File Explorer, navigate to the folder where the desktop application would normally be installed. Delete that folder if it exists (usually program files x86)
- Type the following into the address bar (not the search bar): %APPDATA% and press enter.
- Delete the Bnet and blizzard folders inside the appdata folder if they exist.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 with %PROGRAMDATA% %LOCALAPPDATA% and %TEMP%
- Empty the recycle bin.
- Now reinstall the app to the C: Drive.
- Reinstall the game client to its own folder on an internal NTFS formatted drive.
By “Show in Explorer” do you mean “Reveal in Finder”?
If you’re on a Mac, you should be in the Mac Tech Support. The OS is different enough that it needs its own section.
