Keeps happening over the last hour. I’m in the game and I can move around and I see other people moving around, but I can’t perform any actions. I get the spinning wheel when opening menus or trying to craft, then I can’t even open the crafting workbench and using spells/abilities does nothing. It’s not my connection because I can load webpages no problem while this is happening in game.

My game is doing something similar. I can move, other people are moving, but I can’t change zone, and in-game buttons don’t respond. I can hit ESC and get that menu, but none of the options respond to my clicks. I tried entering the /reload command, but the issue remains. If I leave the game and try to get back on, it says there’s already a character with that name.

Exact same thing both of you are describing are happening to me. note - I did update my ElvUI just before getting on today. I’m too afraid to remove it and test
I made a new DK to level and was able to get my artifact weapon on the landing of Dal. I then cannot accept the intro DK quest for class hall that follows.

I had same issue. Try this fix Options->Network check Enable IPv6 when available. After this I havent encounter single incident but had other issues.

That seems to have fixed the nonresponsive issue. I was able to accept quests and interact with things again, to include abilities. Thank you Pedbag
Just happened to both my partner and I when trying to turn in the quest “From Within” in Azsuna. Partner is stuck on a mount, can’t fly, can’t dismount, can’t hearthstone, can’t interact with turn in NPC. I’m not on my mount, but my first row of abilities is stuck to my mount abilities, I can’t hearthstone, I can’t remove my mount buff though I’m walking around on my characters feet. I also couldn’t use the in game options of Log Out or Close Game. I had to force close it.
I would like to add that once I got back into game, I was where I picked up the quest, not where the turn in is which is where I logged out. My partner went from standing by the turn in to before they picked up the quest.

Running into this issue too, can’t leave Dalaran or exit game without alt-f4. Then get the “Character already exists in game” message.
Two days of this now is ridiculous.

Im wondering if this is happening only if you have the cooldown manager enabled? I had the same issue in retail and legion. I disabled it in Retail and it hasnt come back yet (but havent played that much). I just disabled it in Legion and testing to see if it stops it. Happened 3x today.

I get in the game and I go to skip the first few quests because I’ve done it, but I do that. right afterward I cannot accept any quests, fight anybody, inspect, and etc. I couldn’t fight a small guy. I also had thought that maybe it was just me but when I went to delete my character it said to had failed and the username that I had used was already existing which was a random username
Same thing here. Login gets stuck at about 80% loading bar. Had one character not be able to interact with anything in game, although the game world seemed to still be active. ALT-F4 is the only thing that fixes it.
- Not using the cool down manager.
- This has now happened multiple times while I was trying to craft, game just goes unresponsive.
- Now multiple times while logging in, the loading bar stops advancing.

I can not craft anything. As soon as I try, I get the “freeze”. I see people running around. I can move, but I can not interact with anything,

Edit: Unfortunately this still happens even after checking the IPv6 option in Network
Edit: Bit more info on mine. All my characters are parked at the same dungeon entrance. I noticed the issue the most when I fly a character over to the next dungeon on my farm list. When I get to that dungeon, the issue has taken effect. I close the game, wait a while and log in later, and the character has returned back to the first dungeon’s entrance.
In the most recent occurrence, before leaving the first dungeon I checked the ESC menu to see if I could interact with the buttons, and yes I could! So, thinking there would be no issue this time, I flew on over to the second dungeon entrance… and when I arrived the issue had occurred anyway. Hopefully this info is helpful to whoever might be working on it.
Can confirm this is NOT it. I have never had the cooldown manager enabled, and I’m still having this issue on multiple characters, both retail and remix.
Most recently it happened to me after I zoned back into Dornogal after doing the brewfest dungeon. Everything was fine and working as expected before I did the dungeon, and during it. As soon as I got back to town and opened my keg shaped disappointment box my game went unresponsive. I looted the tokens and trash from the box, mounted up on my yak to sell it, and nothing happened. I couldn’t dismount, use any abilities, interact with any NPCs, or even log out. I eventually gave up and alt-f4’d and I haven’t logged back in yet because a character with that name already exists, and I don’t want to play an alt right now.
Mind you, this is all without the cooldown manager enabled, nor having ever been enabled. Not sure what’s causing the bug, but that’s certainly not it. =(

How does the network fix work? I’m having the same issue. I mean to ask, how does one apply the fix?

And I guess I don’t have the “advanced connection” I thought I had. It’s telling me “another name already exists” … shakes head took a day off too. This is a real bummer.

This helped, but it is still happening to me
My wife and I play on different machines in the same room. When it happens to us, we can still move our characters, but on the other’s screen, the character is frozen.
