My game keeps deleting itself and I have to reinstall the game periodically. A search showed that other people were having this issue and people in that thread suggested that anti virus could be causing the issue. Other than that no one had any other ideas. I do not have anti virus software beyond the built in windows one.
Any ideas on what my problem was?
I do have two hard drives on this computer both with Bnet installed on it, could that be the issue?
I also would have multiple days in a row where I would have to download the same patch each day.
That is correct in that security software can cause this. Another cause we’ve seen involves where the game is installed and if settings are getting crossed somehow with the 2 Battle.net installs.
First just check where the game is installed. You’ll want to make sure it’s not in the same folder area as the Battle.net application ie: C:\programfiles(x86)\Battle.net
Folders within the Battle.net area can be purged when it restarts, thus causing the need to reinstall a game. Just copy/pasting your game folder to it’s own area, such as C:\programfiles(x86)\WoW can be enough to help with that.
If that doesn’t explain it, then a complete reinstall of the Battle.net application should be done. We want to be thorough with this however by removing temporary folders where settings may be. That way we ensure nothing relating to the Battle.net application is to blame:
Uninstall the application. Note if you have it installed in 2 areas, you may need to manually remove it from one location
Press Windows key + R and type in %temp%
Delete anything related to Blizzard or Battle.net
Do the same for %programdata%, %localappdata%, %appdata%
Reinstall the application. A fresh installer should be downloaded for this. To avoid issues, we recommend keeping it on the same drive as Windows. Your games can be installed where ever you wish
