Game is offically dying now: (at least PVP)

Saw it, loved it!
Sadly, I just don’t think Blizzard cares about PVP. They throw scraps here and there but they don’t put any real effort into the PVP game. Which is a shame since their core PVP game is the best in any MMORPG out there

Will Plunderstorm save WoW PvP?

First of all, I’m not entirely sure you know what “officially” means.

Second, people say these things things ALL the time & have been for years. Why is it suddenly going to be the death of the game? What has changed?

If I am reading it right, its a money grab… And… Battle Royale…
Nothing says, “Here, shut up about PVP now” to me than this…
I could be wrong…

The fact you cant solo queue all rated pvp content for the highest rewards (ex: Glad) is mind boggling in a 2024 game. PvP without a stable ranked backbone will always die out eventually and the vast majority of players don’t make it past the LFG group finder hell. It’s not 2000’s anymore… Every other modern PvP game is a queue-up and run it instant match game. Until wow can do that, PvP can’t ever grow.

lol this has been pvp since vanilla

Yeah… Agreed.
At this point with the game, they seem like they are done being innovative and are more in a survive mode, copying others as a money grab…

I disagree with Wow ever having the best PVP out of any mmo. Warhammer Online is where PVP was at it’s most fun in any MMO and was its main focus. Then EA destroyed that too. (RIP)

PVP in an MMO never felt better or more balanced than it did in that game specifically. No other mmo has comes close to that, in my opinion. Me and some of my guildies reminisce about those days (really showing our age I suppose rofl). But as WoW has aged a lot more time has been put into PVE or designing PVP around their E-Sports crap. Did you see the last Arena Tournament? Almost nothing but DHs due to the class being so overtuned. The burst meta is stronger than ever and the amount of CC and micro CC is ludicrous.

Racial abilities in PVP are also still an issue and create a huge imbalance as most people will play Human or Night Elf due to their racials being the strongest out of the bunch (with some following close behind such as green orc, gnome and Dark Iron dwarves). If those were disabled in PVP I think we’d see a far great variety of race/class combos in the game. Which to me personally sounds nice for a change. I know a lot of people won’t agree but still.

As for RBG (Rated Battlegrounds) which is what me and my guild do the most, its not better, only guardian druid is viable for flag carry tank (with maybe Vengeance DH as they can leap and trample across the field at mack 5) But that’s it, all other tanking classes get stomped into the ground with ease. You also wont get anywhere if you dont have at least 1-2 Mistweaver monks for healing. This “Meta or bust” crap has really downgraded PVP for a long time. Last season it was post rework Ret Pallies and Boomies who were an absolute must to be able to advance. And that’s not to talk about all the cheating and exploiting there too.

A lot of issue have also been brought up in another thread so I wont go on too much. I can understand a lot of people not caring about PVP or not liking it, but to outright give PVPers crap and saying they don’t matter really shows a bigger symptom of what’s wrong with this payerbase, I’m not sitting here telling PVEers M+ and Raiding is a snooze fest and Blizz should just stop trying to make it better. That’s just silly to me.

I honestly never played that game so I dont know…
I do like WOWs foundation though. It plays well, its easy to understand what’s going on…
I think this game would be even bigger than it was if they just gave PVP more than an after thought of attention…

No, it is not a good idea. Do you think that I, as a PvE player, care about boosting PvP engagement by participating in it? To me it seems like the only players that care about PvP engagement would be people who enjoy PvP.

Not to mention, back when PvP was forced to complete legendary cloaks in MoP, people complained about being stuck in matches with PvP noobs who were dragging down their team. I was there, I saw it in chat, it happened. Anecdotal evidence I suppose, but there were many unhappy people. PvE players who enjoy PvP are completely allowed to partake in it all they want but PvP shouldn’t impact PvE.

Also, what about rep grinds and dailies? I grind faction reputation hard to get rewards because I don’t mind it. Should I try to push BiS gear for people behind huge rep grinds even if they don’t like it? It would increase world quest and daily quest engagement and engagement is important right? Obviously it’s just an optional gearing path and not required, but a ton of BiS gear will be locked behind that.

I think you should, it would honestly suck if pvp died off in retail, and unless I’m just remembering cata pvp with rose tinted glasses, it honestly could completely kill off what remains of retails pvp scene.

I honestly don’t remember pvp being a requirement for the leggo cloak, which is surprising because I did it twice. Anyways, pvpers complaining about noobs isn’t really unusual.

I’m ok with pre-bis being behind rep grinds. There’s many times in wows history that rep grinds were required for some fairly op pre-bis gear like the trinkets from isle of thunder.

There have been loads of occurrences when BiS pvp gear is locked behind pve as well. Just off the top of my head there’s drestagath trinket and vial of shadows.
I’m not saying that every piece of your bis pve gear should come from pvp, but one or two items that maybe have better stat weights? That’s not a big deal to me if it helps pvpers who have to wait out 10+ minute queues.

You think I should care about something dying off that I do not enjoy and do not participate in? Why would I? It wouldn’t affect me in the slightest way because I do not interact with it at all. I guess the only way that I might care is that people who enjoy it might lose out. Otherwise, it dying off would not impact at all.

You had to win in Temple of Kotmogu and Silvershard Mines. At least Alliance did.

No, if you’re going to try and stick end game BiS behind PvP, absolutely stick end game BiS behind rep grinds. I know they often have good early max level gear, but if you’re sticking end game BiS gear behind PvP, also include it in rep grinds. Afterall, they don’t have to do it and it’s just another alternate gearing path. You don’t get to cherry pick.

But overall, I’m unsure why you think this is something people want? Is this some effort to try and save PvP by annoying people who actually enjoy it with people who don’t? Who wins in this situation? Is this like when they tell you that mowing the lawn builds character? But this is supposed to be a game, not a chore, so forcing people into PvP is a bad idea just like it always has been.

Not sure how I missed this notification but I agree. The whole reason I went to PvP servers is for exactly that. I miss the experience of ganking/getting ganked, swapping to a maxed toon when getting camped and it just turning into a big brawl in the Outlands, or whenever, between Alliance and Horde. The good ole days <3

Some peeps like to fight each other, but, probably it seems many don’t and just want to play. Maybe early on it was a new/big thing and then they just got tired of it, or there was so much more offered in the game? Things change… seen good by some and not so good by others. Right?

I wasn’t on a PvP server, but this kind of thing annoyed me.

Back in vanilla there was a level ~40ish forsaken rogue that would spend hours ganking quest givers in Sentinel Hill in Westfall. Some weeks, it was an every other day occurrence. Eventually I’d get on my 50+ warlock, go out there, and kill them. They’d always run and never fight (I did have 10-15 level difference on them, so I don’t blame them). However a single dot would prevent them from stealthing and I’d run them down. I’d camp them for 5-6 deaths and they would eventually give up.

It wasn’t fun, but is was necessary if people want to actually do any sort of questing in the zone. If it was level appropriate, that would be a different story. If you’re just looking to grief characters far below your level, that’s lame (at least in my opinion). However I know some people roll on PvP servers knowing that could happen and that’s totally up to them if they enjoy it.

So, SSDD then?

I’m a pvp player and don’t play WoW pvp cause it isn’t fun…

Getting stat checked isn’t fun, you should just have to know mechanics and that’s it.

To be fair pvpers killed it. Enjoy what you have created.

But… but… Plunderstorm.

Imagine adding that crap and not actually doing anything for pvp in DF or a new season 4 raid etc Dont tell me adding a 1 or 2 boss raid is harder or takes more work than developing an entirely new game mode. Nit to mention the screwing up of the retaking of gilneas and making it a 8 minite questline. They have no clue.

Twin peaks - You can leap forward from GY on ally side. If you have the flag you can leap into the mountains where you cant be touched. You will see the FC way in the distance but cant get to him.

Warsong Gulch - You can go to top on ally side and use a pot or if your a lock, you can transport over the wall and stay hidden and untouchable behind the flag stand. You can hide the whole game.

Name Plate Bug - Going on 3 months not fixed.

Bots are out of control.

Broken Epics - Tanks can literally live for ever in Epics which makes all tanks go directly to boss, destroying the objective or making the game play boring/Slow…
