Game is Fine. You are not

The game is fine, except for classes.

Classes really have gotten worse, man. It is a frustrating and sad feeling when you log on a character that used to be more fun. Not more powerful, more FUN.

I’m glad that they finally took to the idea of not doing complete spec overhauls for every class every expansion, but it’s about five years too late.

It’s been awesome to get visual updates for all spells and abilities but it’s just a distraction from the crappy toolkits we have now.

Just imagine for a moment that all 4 of your specs were performing poorly and were very clunky to play. So bad, in fact, that the devs openly acknowledge it and tell you the extent of changes needed will require a full patch, not just iterative adjustments.

So you wait for months hoping that it will all be fixed, then you see that the planned changes were just some changes to a couple of talents and numbers tuning that do nothing to change the aforementioned clunky play style.

That is “fine” to you?

The game HAS changed. Classes are different, talent trees are gone, the whole world was altered for Cata, quest structure is different. Even the design philosophy has changed since back then from sub count metrics to time played metrics.

To say the game is the same is to be disingenuous.

Well said OP. I doubt BfA will ever be considered one of the best expansions but it does not deserve the hate many are giving it and the team that works on it.

Whole lot of nope there.

It’s not fine. The core aspect of the game, our characters their classes and specs, have been neglected. When prepatch hit we received class changes that were to fix the changes going in from Legion to BFA. Some specs didn’t even get touched on and are JUST NOW getting fixes, two raid tiers later. Prot warriors and bear druids which have been bad since the start are just now getting fixes, two raid tiers later. I could go on but you get the idea.

Blizzard isn’t some no name company, it’s not like we’re asking the devs of some lesser MMO like Star Trek or Neverwinter to take on a monumental task.

What would be truly wrong OP would be enjoying or supporting a game regardless of what the parties do that produce it.

Let’s say hypothetically Blizzard does something that a portion of the users find annoying or unenjoyable. They never speak out about it or ask for change. The game could continue down what ever road they are planning on it being and that can slowly lead to a games demise. I’ve seen it happen to many a game I enjoyed. You see, that influences what effort the parties responsible for that game in the future will do for the status quo. That in turn will lead to content that is sub par or content that that could be better.

BFA is not perfect, but the concept of what it could have been was pretty great. The execution is sub par and disappointing and myself, or anyone else that is happy to play this game, has the responsibility to speak up when they find something disappointing in the product they pay for. Doing so is not being negative, it is shining light on the problem. There will be those that are just mean spirited or rude, you have to take those with a grain of salt and realize that they are either trolls or can’t put it to words how to fix it. At no point do they speak for you, if you enjoy it super and if they don’t also super. No one but Blizzard has control over who speaks on this forum regarding that.

Let’s put it this way: I would love to get rid of titanforging. I would love for Island expeditions to not be on a timer and offer time to fight the rares. I would love for more dungeons and raids. Would any of these changes flip the “I hate bfa” to “I like bfa”? Unlikely.

We often don’t even know what to call out when we say the game sucks. We used to be so happy with so little when classic was released and we made our own adventure. That sense of exploration and adventure is gone and nothing the developers do will bring that fresh feeling back.

I find that the best moments in WoW are when I am on discord doing a key/raiding, and I can just have a great time with friends. I had to search for that community thou and the game would be nothing without it.

It seems like quite a few of the threads I see the OP usually does explain what they think is wrong with the game and what could be changed, sometimes in TLDR novel form lol. Now don’t get me wrong there is the occasional herp derp this game sucks with no explanation why but not as much as you think.

People have figured out that spending their time typing out feedback / suggestions is pretty much throwing their words down the memory hole.

Feedback.

revert back to wrath but update past that to current content
prune nothing
flying for gold or a 5 minute account wide pathfinder at max level retroactive to level 60
All spells of all specs in the spell book. Pull what you like out and put that on your bars for normal use. (let players figure out what load out they want handy, but give them the full class tool kit)
Don’t time gate
abolish all no fly zones except maybe around given quest givers in a 10 yard circle
redo all quests from level 1 to max level to give rewards that help each class and spec keep relevant gear
make heirlooms great again
make leveling speed
slow = no looms fast = looms
make scaling optional toggle
get rid of rng as much as reasonable and put in armor and weapon vendors that sell actual useful weapons and gear.
give players choice and agency over their progression paths
Spawn world bosses daily in several zones
have incursions not only happen in current zones but all over azeroth and grant rewards beyond azerite armor and weapons, all slots.

There is some feed back which will promptly be denigrated or ignored.

But people have made meaningful suggestions. I was making meaningful suggestions in April during the Alpha. Almost nothing we suggested in Alpha/Beta was fixed or implemented. So guess what? Most of those people gave up. That’s why there’s been a 55% (approx.) sub loss since August.

But you think the forums are just full of “pessimism?” It sounds like you’re the one not living in reality.

Would those meaningful suggestions on specific issues (e.g., flying, expeditions, m+, class design, etc.) cause you to change your view of the expansion?

The community won’t even agree on specific changes. We throw around tons of suggestions hoping that the game will feel more rewarding and fun when we are done.

Consider azerite power. Lots of people enjoy the catch up mechanic that removes the need to grind. Nevertheless, you can find multiple posts indicating that they have nothing to work towards and AP sucks.

If it improves the game in their eyes then I imagine it would change their view of the expansion. No matter if people agree on specific changes you still have to keep giving suggestions to them the only other alternative is to just give up.

The big problem with M+ right now is that you aren’t playing the dungeon, you are playing the affix. Which isn’t fun. Some week, they are trivial. There is only one affix that is the dps responsibility solely. Everything else is just a burden on the healer and tank.

Drag them!

OP is hilarious. Did you seriously just tell people they were having fun the wrong way? Congratulations, you have the same toxic attitude that this game’s head developer does, and we all saw what that has done for the game.

People aren’t wrong for disliking something you like.

I’m burnt out from 4 years of being fed absolute trash and dealing with apathetic debs that don’t even try to do basic balanving.

Full revert to mop.

The expansion where discipline priests dominated every raid healing setting? No expansion was perfectly balanced and it is impossible to think that it will ever be the case. The moment things start to become balanced people will complain about the homogenization of classes.

They still do that and my class had 13 abilities that are now talents that were previously baseline so yeah full revert to mop. I don’t give a heck about hps, I care about classes being full and fun to play. We haven’t had that since mop
