Game freezing in M+ and Raids since 11.1

I made this post in the tech forum not realizing Blizzard doesn’t monitor it.

Is anyone else having this issue in M+ and Raids where the game will just lock up entirely for about 1-2 seconds in instanced content like M+/Raid/Delve?

The person in the tech forums suggested going back to the early Feb drivers from Nvidia but those were the drivers I had when I first noticed the problem once 11.1 hit and updating to the latest drivers hasn’t fixed it.

what is your CPU and GPU and HDD/SDD usage when it freezes? open a Task Manager and look at the graphs during a freeze.

Yep. It’s a new feature of the 11.1 patch.

Try doing LFR with no addons enabled and see if it still happens. If it doesn’t, then you know where to start looking.

don’t overclock.

I tried this and it’s a spike in the Ethernet traffic. The only other thing I had running at the time besides WoW was the Task Manager.

This test was done while doing Delves because but it’s the same symptom in Raids and Dungeons. When engaging a new pull or popping bloodlust, the game just won’t accept my inputs and the mobs etc are locked in place for about 1-2 secs.

It is freezing like that this whole expansion, large pulls in dungeons to many people in same zone out in open world. In previous expansion i have never head this many game stutters like in TWW.

The last time I remember thing happening was when pulling Sylvanas. Your abilities wouldn’t go through and nothing would move on screen and then suddenly everything would resolve. Blizzard changed something back then to fix it.

I can’t prove with 100% certainty that it’s Blizzard fault, but it’s very suspicious that once 11.1 hit, the issue has gotten exponentially worse.

Something is up just not sure what bad servers , code bug or other.I just know game did not have this kind of problems before tww.

I’ve been having this issue since TWW pre-patch. I made a post in the Bug Report forum back in November because I saw that a number of other posts were popping up with people having the same issue, hoping that Blizzard would see it, acknowledge it, and do something about it, but so far it has just been crickets. I periodically peruse the forums for new posts about the same issue to see if there’s any solutions or suggestions, and add their links to my bug report. None of the suggestions have worked for me.

I’ve been getting these occasionally micro-freezes since 11.1 dropped.

It was brought up on “The Bench” and there is this reddit thread about it.

I have tried everything except changing to Linux and moving to Windows 10.

Nothing has worked. It happens at least twice per dungeon. It got me killed tonight in a +12.

Getting this a lot lately too, been swapping out addons, changing GPU settings, in-game settings, drivers/windows updates… nothing works.

I got the disable cpu profiling weakaura and my game doesn’t freeze up nearly as often as before

Yeah, noticed this too. Very rarely though. Thought it was my computer but guess not if it’s happening to other people.

if you’re having 3-15 second game freezes upon an event triggering a weakaura or addon there may be a fix for it.

That lua error is most likely caused by a bug in the wow engine, which has to do with calling for third party sound files.

Uncached sound files in WoW (especially large .ogg or .mp3 files used by WeakAuras or addons) can cause frame hitches or freezes, especially on first use. Unfortunately, WoW doesn’t expose a formal API to directly force pre-caching of sound files
