Game Freeze + Black screen + Crash when playing Cataclysm Classic

I have recently jumped back into classic cataclysm and randomly have been experiencing my game freezing up and my monitor going black shortly thereafter. About half the time my game crashes too. Noticed this has happened a lot more when im in the hellfire peninsula. I normally dont get an error popup but fortuntely I did last time and it read d3d_device_context_->Map at rglGPU_device::lock_texture Failed! The GPU device instance has been suspended. Use GetDeviceRemoveReason to determine the appropriate action. I have a RX 7900XT and a Ryzen 5 7600X - a fairly high end computer so I dont believe my specs are lacking. Desperately seeking a fix to this as I am only able to play 10 mins max without my game freezing, screen going black and my game crashing. Half the time my game freezes, my screen goes black and then im able to play again though. Any help would be TREMENDOUSLY appreciated.

I’ve had it for a week and there hasn’t been any change at all, always with high latency and stuck on the loading screen

There’s other post around the 7000 series issues with dx12, try switching to dx11.
