Game for people who don’t like M+

Hi all,

I’m a player who doesn’t really enjoy M+ much and unfortunately that puts me at a massive disadvantage when compared with my guild mates during heroic progression. They are often decked out in mythic raid level gear from the vault while someone like me who really only enjoys raiding and will dabble in M+ maybe one season per expansion is at a significant gear disadvantage.

My question I guess is… is there really a game left for me? M+ completely invalidates all raiding below mythic and frankly in my experience it’s much easier to time a +15 than kill 3 heroic bosses (for lesser loot).

I know most of the player base seems to be absolutely in love with M+ but I’m wondering if the two gearing paths can’t be separated similar to how PvP and PvE are.

I am hopeful that blizzard shuffling the dungeon pool each season might raise my interest but will have to see.

Not really, at mythic level raiding I believe it’s expected you’re doing the most you can to be competitive seeing as it’s the most difficult raiding tier. Mythic raiding is more about making sacrifices whether it be through spec, class choice, free time and more to ensure you’re min maxing and pretty much. Mythic+ is just part of the package I’d say if you want to be a mythic Raider without bringing your team down.

EDIT: oh misread, I see you’re doing heroic progression. I’d say then that mythic+ isn’t really “required” and you can still progress, but you can’t really blame your team for pulling better numbers if they’re doing extra grinding I guess? You could try to climb the PvP ladder. There’s some good gear there, though stacked with vers.

M+ and raiding are both PvE. They aren’t fundamentally different activities, so separating the gear (by which I assume you mean making M+ specific sets) doesn’t make sense.

But it’s not like getting vault slots is all that hard. You can run one 15+ every couple of days and still wind up with 2 options by the end of the week. That’s not a very big commitment.

I hate Mythic+ as well. I’ve only run maybe 5 or 6 SL Mythics total, and i’m just not into it.

The timer gives me anxiety. I already hate the rush mentality during leveling dungeons, and it feels even worse in Mythic runs. It’s hard to keep up with the pack if you don’t do all the content thays available to you, so I just gave up and accepted my mediocre position in the universe

That just lowers the value of each type of gear. And ups the amount of work to do both.

Killing 3 heroic bosses is very easy hell I’m doing 7 bosses in a pug for shiggles and while I do not wish to diminish the achievements you’ve made as a player, you have only brought this on yourself.

Unless you are raiding in a top 100 team where it’s less about skill because your actually doing mechanics correctly and more about gear you don’t need to do m+ if you don’t want to.

If your team is stuck in heroic it’s not about gear, gear isn’t holding you back it’s yourselves.

With the exception of this tier M+ at just 15s requires more from the individual than heroic bosses do, it has less room for error and it’s a much longer high intensity environment.

You can’t just pause after 10 minutes in M+ for a coffee break like you can in a raid after a boss or before or during trash if you plan on meeting that timer.

So the answer is yes there is still a game for you, if your heroic prog guild expects you to do M+ it’s time to find a new guild.

It’s not however time to crap on people who choose M+ as a progression path.

With no valor cap just do fast, easy m+2 and upgrade. Easy and stress free.

OP,
It depends on the guild. I do not run M+ and so I have a lower ilvl than the rest of my raid team, but so far, the raid lead has not kicked me out and I really don’t think he would. I do have to say it is super annoying that I have yet to receive any trinkets (stuck with 239 trinkets) and for the last 5 weeks, I haven’t gotten any gear out of the raid and my vault has been terrible (except for 1 week).

If WoW didn’t have mythic+ I’d be playing ff14. That game is better than WoW in so many ways. So yes there are alternatives

I dont understand. Sorry if I really cant.

If you like Heroic Raiding, why cant you like M+? They are both PvE. Just pew pew, get loots then go to next boss and repeat until you are done then leave. And M+ is way easier.

Why? Is it becoz you prefer being carried by your guildmates and you cant perform by yourself on a smaller group without your friend’s carry?

On me, I like Heroic Raiding. But I dont have much play time to cover the progression waiting for other people’s learning curve to pick up. That’s why I rather go with smaller groups like M+ so I could pew pew right away. But if you give me much play time, I would like to do Heroic Raiding and Mythic Raiding too.

100% relate.

I don’t do M+ either, so I am usually way behind in ilvl.

It feels bad. But we got AOTC and now they quit raiding, so I don’t care about my gear at all at this point.

Go go Elder Scrolls Online. You can raid all day there and never touch a dungeon. There’s no lockouts. You fill up 12 people out of guild chat or Belkarth chat and go do the raid. There’s 3 difficulty modes, normal, veteran, and challenge. Getting the personal drops is pretty quick, there is much more generous loot and bad luck protection on top of it. The loot has significant value beyond your personal items you want to equip, so even if you’ve had the sets from a raid for years you can still go play it and get something of value out of it. Is a much better raiding system.

You know you can’t upgrade without the 2k rating, right?

Can’t meaningfully upgrade with any rating. There’s 14 enhancement levels and only the first 12 of them are accessible by rating. The final 2 enhancement levels are vault only.

It’s easier to beat M+10’s equivalent of 2000 M rating (when you do all 10x dungeons) than beat the last 3 bosses Heroic Sepulcher.

To be fair, with 15’s being so “easy”, and not matter if you time them or not for vault, a 278 ilvl piece is just too much. The reward in vault shouldn’t be over heroic ilvl

It has a lot of devoted fans, and some of those fans appear to be under the impression that 100% of subscribers get ksm on every character. But on a percentage basis I don’t think we have enough data to state how many players do how many keys at different levels each week, nor how many have left the game entirely because there’s not much else to do.

To be honest, I think if the vault reward wasn’t mythic raid ilvl, a lot of heroic raiders wouldn’t bother with M+. A lot do it out of pressure and expectation, not because they actually enjoy it.

I’m sure you could dig up the info on raider io. My priest has a 2.7k rating, and there are almost 5,000 priests in the region with a higher score than that. I have an alt priest that’s only 160 rating, and that puts it at 42,000.

Obviously things are probably skewed higher on that class because that’s currently the meta healer, but I think it would be a bad idea to underestimate just how much M+ gets run. Especially (and specifically) because “there’s not much else to do” for PvEers when it’s not raid night.

Oh I get it, I hate mplus with a passion and even more so with the great vault cause before I could just my 1 15 for the week and be done but now it’s do 8 every week and get ksm asap to upgrade gear when I just wanna kill some mythic bosses and be done for the week.
