Game Feels Over Complicated and Over Designed..To much Currency/tokens

I came back to DF to see if I would enjoy it and I gotta say I’m completely confused. I have so many random items that break down to lesser items , epic crafting reagents, 6 different currencies… Like wtf is going on? Am I alone in this? Does anyone not have a friggen clue wtf to do with all these items if you’ve just returned without researching a friggen book report worth of information to get up to speed?

Good lord back in the day all you needed was badges of Justice to upgrade your gear and get cool stuff. Now it feels like theres 8320984 different items that reward different things, it feels very bloated…

Seems like you’re talking about a combination of crafting reagents and ilvl upgrade currencies.

Certain crafting reagents can convert to higher tier / lower tier items so that you can use whichever one you need at the moment instead of being locked into the combined version. They probably could have done without that bit of design, but whatever, no big deal.

The ilvl upgrade currency is a lot of clutter, but it ensures you’re only able to upgrade things to an appropriate level for the content you’re doing, kinda like Titan Residuum back in BfA. If it was consolidated into 1 version regardless of content level, people would be spamming M+2 all day for BiS gear.

Basically, content drops fragments, 15 or whatever fragments makes the token needed to actually upgrade something. The upgrade UI tells you which tokens you need to upgrade any given item.

Thanks for the heads up :).

Although I still feel like the underlying way you go about crafting/upgrading gear and getting toys/cosmetics etc is very convoluted and just like how they pruned Classes back in the day I really feel the game itself needs a good pruning over all with all these tokens and stuff like that making something more universal across all the reputations in dragon flight for example… I dont know how to fix it really but there’s just so much bloat =/

Yes and no. Once your gear progression moves beyond certain thresholds, the lower currencies / crests are pointless. Anyone in 437+ gear doesn’t care about whelpling or drake crests, anyone above 441 doesn’t care about wyrm crests, etc. Conversely, anyone who doesn’t plan to go above overworld item levels, or maybe LFR at most, doesn’t need to worry about wyrm & aspect crests. They’ll never use them.

A lot of players complain about every possible crafting reagent when half (or more) of them don’t apply to their characters. So much confusion over things that don’t actually matter to them, just because “they exist” it’s somehow a problem.

Think of it like an buffet.

You dont have to eat every item being offered all at once.

Giving you advice on direction requires more context.

Why did you “come back”?
Where were you at level/ilvl when you left.
What is your main draw to play (content wise)
Are you in a guild?

Is there a streamer somewhere whining about this game being complicated? Because I just don’t understand it.

I really don’t blame you, those of us that have been here since the expansion dropped and have been able to absorb each new patch slowly are fine, but to come in and get it all at once would be completely overwhelming.

They really should have some type of streamlined quest chain/highlighted path that directs people to the current content/systems, as it is now, you’re overloaded with a mess of quests telling you to go to a wide range of places and participate in a bunch of activities that are completely irrelevant now.

Not surprising. The dev team never says no to a new system or a new currency. New systems don’t get final approval until everybody and the janitor have added on their own ideas.

Yeah but the janitor is why we have those water buckets on halloween.

Way too many currencies and items, most of which I have no use for. So annoying. Artisians mettle I don’t have a use for as a gatherer, nothing to use them. Reisdue sacks to turn into fragments, to turn into crests. Which I also have no use for. All the trophys that you have to run and turn into specific NPCs for rep instead of it just giving you rep. Purses that you have to open just for gold. 3 ‘grades’ of materials, even more grades for items. Requiring specific items to buy other items from NPCs… Requiring diff levels of renown that you’re supposed to keep track of instead of friendly, honored, revered, exalted… What a mess

You summed up perfectly how I feel

Back in what day? If you did Legion questing after Legion was done, the moment you got to Argus, you were inundated with all kinds of currencies and things to collect.

This isn’t that new.

I don’t get why all the rep vendor cosmetic items take crafting mats and stuff to buy, just taking resources would be fine. Like there’s already a currency for it, why require random mats too

I think it’s more so they get all these items while playing and don’t bother looking up what anything does. So instead of ‘google: drake shadowflame crest’, it’s straight to GD to complain.

Like reagent tiers are pretty self explanatory. Which is better 1 star bronze or 3 star gold?

To be fair, item bloat is a very valid complaint. But beyond that, the systems aren’t that convoluted.

Yep, I can agree with that.

There weren’t lots of different currencies on Argus. Just veiled Argunite you used to buy gear tokens, and primal sargerite, that you used to buy raw gems.

yeah funny enough they got rid of valor for thier “better” upgrade system that is actually just 4 different types of valor that sits in your bags and acts extremely irritating.

Yea Valor should’ve just stayed tbh.

You two aren’t the only ones who get annoyed by this.
