Game Experience Is Terrible due to Server Balance

Can someone from blizz explain to me why nothing has been done about server balance for mega realms like benediction and faerlina? Sure you guys merged the small servers which helps their experience… but what about also addressing over 2 hour wait times which happens every year on the mega servers, which also have no world pvp expereince because its 99% one faction. How about offering free transfers to a new pvp server from faerlina and benediction which would help all wait times and give a chance for world pvp for us who enjoy it.

Server Balance is something that Blizzard has tried to address multiple times in the past with faction specific free transfers off of particular realms where that particular faction has such a vast majority. The thing is, players didn’t take the transfers as they wanted to play on the winning side for that server. As for Classic realms, those are populated by the players who get the choice of faction when creating their characters and you cannot force them to play a faction they do not want to play.

The bad thing here is that there is only so much Blizzard can do. The players decided which servers to roll on. The players created that balance. The issue is one that the players themselves made.

That said, this is Customer Support, not Customer Service. This forum is one for players to assist other players. There are no GMs, Devs or anyone else save for our SFAs, and they’re limited to being here on the forums. They have no say in any part of this issue.

Actually just relogged from earlier and there is now a free transfer servicce

I came back from WoW after 2 years. I played on Whitemane and at the time it was very balanced and a near 50/50 split on a very busy realm.

Came back and it was over 99% horde. It was a mess, the auction house dysfunctional, leveling was very stressful to not be ganked, groups pretty tough to round out with people shouting for hours.

I paid to transfer off to Grobbulus a high pop balanced server and it’s great. Now, “Free Character transfer” on the queue. It will most likely unbalance the server now.

It’s been 20 years… They should have figured this out by now.

Are you going to take it?

I returned to Whitemane (unbalanced) but haven’t xfered anywhere. Constantly ganked while leveling out in the world, and not enough people leveling to form a group for dungeons.

At his point. I may just skip Wrath. Sucks to think I need pay blizzard to xfer when xfers were the cause of the problem to begin with. If im dead lucky, maybe the que will be so full they allow me to freely xfer off to a PvE realm. Even if its dead, at least I could experience wrath to some capacity without getting camped.

I loved Whitemane world pvp in classic and early tbc. It was great, you stood a chance with friends near by. Unfortunate reality is that the majority of classic pvp servers end their life with a full tilt one side or the other. To my knowledge, only a very small handful are close both sides and with que free xfers on the table, thats likely to change in a week or so!

Blizzard could have chosen to never implement transfers and instead only connect realms as their populations dipped below a threshold. You know, play an active role in maintaining the health of their game. Instead they chose to rake in the dough with transfers and let realms perish.

I transfered off Whitemane last week. I don’t think that realm will be playable as Alliance for the Wrath events. Most Alliance characters there are Horde Alts and ironforge.pro has them at 99.6% Horde population.

It will be a blood bath…

Grobbulous has been great so far and reminds me of how Whitemane was before I quit. /crosses fingers that this free server transfer doesn’t break it. It looks to be the only balanced high pop PVP classic realm.

Blizzard really screwed server balance up. I’m amazed they let it get this bad.

doesnt really have to do with the winning side, but more so the playable side. most players are concerned with being in a functioning guild. guilds cannot function on dead or dying servers. guilds need a large pool of players from which to recruit- and as such, are strongly pushed to consolidation on mega realms for the sake of guild survival. this is not a player problem, this is a game designer problem.

the design is wrong, and as a result we get pain points in the game experience. blizzard has taken almost every wrong step in mitigating this from the very start of classic wow. failing to announce enough servers on classic launch, failing to implement phase 2 correctly, failing to enforce any faction balance from the start, failing to put in any effort to mitigate mass migrations. paid transfers were put in to enrich the company while they put in minimum effort. the company is morally and intellectually bankrupt, but the game is surviving in spite of blizzards incompetence.

No, people just saw how “medium” servers can turn into ghost towns at the blink of an eye with no intervention on blizzard’s part. They decided that they had to immunize themselves from blizzard’s poor choices and lack of regulation and pick the servers most likely to survive. It’s purely on blizzard for letting things get to that level.

What would you suggest they do?

primarily always heavily stacked horde side, why? because it’s not balanced between races with racials, specifically from WoW classic
servers stacked with alliance are a result of the low pop fleeing a decimating horde pop so they can actually play in the open world

Layering?
I mean we didn’t want crz right? So makes sense people will migrate to large servers of their preferred faction to have better chance to enjoy group content.
Take the bad with the good. Queues will slow down after the leveling rush as always.

This is why you dont offer a transfer service in the first place.

It’s pretty clear by server choices that the vast, vast majority of people on pvp servers do not want world pvp even if they claim otherwise.

Come to Grob if you want world pvp!

Oh wait you can’t

I don’t get why they don’t make a server where people can only roll new characters in balance with the other faction.
100 new characters from alliance, 100 new characters from horde, one faction can’t make new characters until the other faction meets the same quota or something like that.

I feel carrots work better than sticks.

Adding simple buffs (that persist with death) to the disadvantaged side per 10% of imbalance would incentivize players to stay with it and could be tweaked to encourage balanced sides.

The fact that they’ve done nothing and allowed PVP servers to hit 99 to 1 imbalances is just plain incompetency.
