So when I clicked play yesterday after patch day, the game did not load. It’s the same, like it comes on, then off, and takes a few minutes for it to come up on the task manager, but still not working. I try to uninstall and reinstall WoW and the net app, and it doesn’t work. I had also added it to my Avast exceptions list, and it doesn’t work. Heroes of the Storm still works, but not WoW. I also did a scan and repair on it, and still nothing works
edit… so using Avast for antivirus software. on window 10 home. Had put it on my exceptions list to my avast antivirus software. means i added battle net app and world of warcraft. even added battle.exe as a browser and battlenet.exe as a command to my exception list
its Avast and i had added to it by going to setting, exceptions then add exception and added it by file/folder. Yes this is dragonmyballs had to change my char lol
Same problem. Wasn’t an issue until the current update. I’ve added battlenet & wow exe’s to Sophos & windows firewall. Didn’t help, also wasn’t an issue until yesterday.
Game will start if I do it over & over killing process each failure. Also have had some luck starting game using Task Manger - Run a new task.
The fix would come from Sophos. Post in their forum or contact their support.
If your security software is blocking the game, you need to either add exceptions, uninstall it for the time being, or contact the developer of the security software. It is the security software developer’s responsibility to whitelist updates to common software, not Blizzards or yours really.
This is why they’re all called bloatware that collects your data, but I digress.
