I miss BC and my floating islands and my fly-only daily zones and dangerous places to fly over.
So Ion gets no credit for anything positive that happened in Legion.
But we are listing a ton of pre-BFA things that we are mad at Ion about.
Edit: Did not mean to reply to you specifically, just noticed. Sorry.
I think heās a good raid designer, but like in the NFL sometimes a good defensive coordinator doesnāt make a great head coach (As a Jets fan Iām constantly made aware of thisā¦) .
If you do not want me flying then create a zone where if I fly into it before completing the quest content I get shot out of the sky or chased by flying dinosaurs.
They are commonsense ways to limit flying and still make it fun while achieving your goal. Right now it is an obvious grindfest designed to burn time and run up /played time.
Considering Legion was another war against flight with too much RNG, poor storytelling in many zones, more rehashed content and music, and the introduction of this crap AP system⦠I can give him credit for all of those bad decisions, too. Does that help?
Iād rather have someone that plays both factions. For a bit there started wondering about the Q&Aās. Nothing ever really comes of them and they seemed more like a waste. Imo I think the reason why all of a sudden Ion started doing them. Was maybe because Activision was watching to see if he actually addresses issues by players. So he could at least argue that hes paying attention and listening to players. But not putting in any effort to fix things. Like heās stalling for a better position to come open while stretching things out.
Yup. Thatās exactly my point.
Sorry, this thread already stated that Ion was moved up to game director too late to get credit for anything that happened in Legion.
So that means Ionās War on Flight only started a few months ago.
That being said, Legion was probably my number 2 expansion of all time.
Heās part of the team thatās been against it since Warlords. I donāt know what youāre trying to prove here.
This is incorrect and just silly. You starting at a rock will never turn it into good. Not in theory not in anything. No matter how long youāve do it.
I was just bringing up how its interesting how Ion gets called out for every bad decision pre BFA that he was not fully game director forā¦
ā¦but anything positive gets ignored. because you know, he was game director too late in the cycle for any of his decisions to actually have mattered.
Lets think about this. If I am at war with another faction lets say Germany for example in World War 2 were you able to just fly over Berlin? No the Allies had to do quest then unlock flying over Europe.
I know this is a stupid example but flying has been in WoW for a while there are lore based ways to knock people out of the sky until they achieve certain things.
It would give you a goal to aim towards and overcome and in game threat.
I know. They did it in BC. And it was awesome.
A lot of people also forget that he is a lawyer.
I am happy my former jobs donāt follow me around.
My first job was a birthday party host at a bowling alley. Am I still a birthday party host?
I appreciate the manner in which they discuss and iterate options for the game (verbally). But I think itās built on a bad foundation of metric based analysis.
Metrics are great at identifying āpotentialā problems. But relying on metrics too much cause you to play āplug the holeā in a sinking ship. Each time you plug one hole you keep finding new holes somewhere else. You spend all your time trying to balance the numbers (plug each hole) that you miss what is really going on - your ship is sinking. When you set sail your ship was sturdy and water tight, but now it need major repair.
His ideas and decisions did matter. And they put him front and center when explaining why there was no flight, why they went certain directions, etc.
And he hasnāt impressed me at all this expansion. I wouldnāt even be playing this rehashed grind if it werenāt for my friends. Theyāre the only reason Iām here.
Thereās nothing to defend when it comes to the team that has consistently disappointed people for three expansions now.
Everyone has their opinions on which expansions they like. Weāre all different. And thatās good. Heck, my second fav expansion is Cata.
But there are core parts of this game that are in danger due to the directions that have been taken by this team. Ones that he has be front and center spokesman for. Ones that have been implemented yet again in this expansion.
As a fellow Jets fan, I wish I could give you the rest of my likes for the month.
This I have to agree with. I know game designers who were formerly geologists and art history majors. That doesnāt mean they havenāt learned a new profession.
He clearly knows what heās doing. Its just on our part to understand how he wants us to have fun.
