Game Devs Ruined Timewalking

I’ve been using Timewalking dungeons to level alts for over 6 years, and for some inexplicable reason, the scaling has changed. Suddenly, it’s harder than a mythic dungeon! I used to breeze through with heirlooms, but now I feel like I need BIS gear just to make it through. Seriously, what was the point of messing with Timewalking scaling?

Sounds like a you problem, my alts are still flying through with heirlooms, even when tanking.

Yo can you stop trolling me, what reason did they make the scaling changes? lol

To hurt your feelings in particular, obviously.

Lol aw man I have skill issues? My feelings are hurt

I just did a Zul’farrak on my 80 Paladin and there was a level 61 Fury Warrior who was mowing down the entire dungeon. Finished in 5 minutes.

See, this just proves my point. Your rocking level 80 gear, and somehow a random level 60 warrior is hitting harder than you. What kind of twisted scaling is that?

Not going to lie, there’s nothing difficult about TW at this day and age, ever since they changed how we’re suppose to go through dungeons as we level up, almost EVERYTHING is trivial. I dunno what you’re doing to make it feel “Difficult” and consider TW is ruined by w/e change it may be, you may want to rethink what you’re doing and stop doing that? Rushing through pack of enemies one too many at a time? Not letting a healer heal by not stopping for them? DPS being DPS by wanting to smash and stab things but can’t because Tank keeps running well out of range thinking they’re invincible?

If anything, the only thing that ruined TW (And by extension, just dungeon running as a whole) is the absurd need to speed run it like its M+ on a timer…

What level is your char? What level were the other group members?

What role were you playing?

I have seen groups where people were mid 70s get smashed if they were in quest gear or lower level heirlooms. To the point we had to… gasp… use… CC!

Just could not pull like crazy when there were heals in the mix.

76 Brewmaster, 80 Protection Paladin, 80 Protection warrior, etc. it’s a struggle.

By “struggle”, do you mean you can’t fly through oneshotting everything as tank?

Yes, exactly I am the tank that pulls the whole room, it’s funnier that way. I’ve been doing this since 2019.

I am sorry you need to play the game now op - absolutely tragic

Ah, so it’s less of a skill issue and more of a “capacity” issue.

I bought some 528 gear for a Monk and that helped with the classic timewalking it seemed.

Man, timewalking is basically a mythic dungeon without any useful gear at the end.

it only gets hard when the wonky scaling kicks in at like…75 or was it 66?

Problem pulls were in Zul Farak when multiple witch doctors are pulled. Three or more and no one focuses them or attacks the totems. Second area was big court yard in Strath, pulling all the stitched aboms in courtyard before Rivendare. Also sometimes getting swarmed in Strat if heals gets mobbed and eaten while tank off in Narnia.

I don’t run low levels thru TW. Only my max level Ret Pallies and Ele Shammy. I have had to spam utility/heals on a few occasions when things got spicy.

I only run for badges and the loot box after doing 5 of them. :grinning:

Never for leveling.

This is what they said when making the change:

"Our intention with these dungeons is for their difficulty to fall between the difficulty of a Normal and a Heroic dungeon at level 80.

Our goal with changes like this is to provide a fairer, engaging challenge for all players while keeping to the principle that better gear makes you more powerful.

We’ll continue to monitor dungeon difficulty to ensure Timewalking presents a satisfying level of challenge for all players."

It’s a bit subject to interpretation. Also, quite a lot of speculation. I continue to be disappointed at their decision to change the scaling to this “chromie time” system from the old version. It’s led to some awful, and deeply predictable issues while ruining the game mode the way I prefered to play it.

It’s nice that level 10s and up now get to do Timewalking, at least, instead of needing to be at least 30.
