I’ve also noticed that my computer has semi-froze two/three times while playing this new patch.
Big topic about it in technical support.
Your not the only ones… myself included.
I haven’t had any problems. Did you check to make sure your computer is plugged in? Also, make sure that your monitor is actually turned on. This has been a problem for me on multiple occasions. If all that fails, make sure your mouse is plugged into the computer, and not your fridge. Boy was my face red when that happened.
I had my PC shut off once randomly last week… Never happened to me before, so it threw me for a loop.
I’ve had a few DC’s this week (which is also very out of the norm.), but I can usually just hop right back on.
Make it 3 times now…
It has yet to crash my PC, but I get DC’ed randomly but I can’t confirm with certainty that it’s the game.
In all seriousness… that’s not good. Definitely swing over to the Tech Support forums and see what they can do to help you out there.
Avoid loading up wow unless they need you to test adjustments until it is fixed.
I dont even know what causes it since i was playing just fine a few hours earlier (excluding the typical lag spikes that come with a new patch)
But its the first time a patch has made the computer just crash like that
Probably isn’t the game. When millions of people are playing the game without issue, it’s most likely your machine/internet.
Well… start with the basics and work your way from there.
If you’re on Windows, check for Windows updates and make sure you are fully updated there.
Same if you’re on Mac, run their combo updater… thingy.
Once you’ve done that, make sure your graphics drivers are fully updated.
Reboot system.
Once you’ve done that, run the scan and repair tool for WoW. (It’s in the Options menu of the Launcher)
When that finishes, only then would I recommend a re-test to see if it is working again.
If not, clear out all add-ons.
Retest.
If it’s not working, see if you can pull up your Windows Event Logs. (If you’re on Windows, I don’t know the Mac equivalent.)
For Windows it’s real easy, just type Event viewer into the search bar next to Start and hit enter.
It’ll load up and then you should see see several possible events. The ones you want are probably going to be in the Critical section or Error and have a + next to it to expand. Find one that has a time-stamp similar to when you crashed and read through the event log.
If you need help reading through it to figure out what means what, hit up Microsoft.
My internet sometimes is a pain, but it never forced my computer to restart, usually just disconnects me and thats about it.
And the game was running perfectly fine before the patch
Unless things are really really screwy, an internet connection issue shouldn’t cause a hard computer crash like the OP is describing. They’re saying it’s not just disconnecting and closing the game, but killing the computer itself and forcing a hard restart.
My computer hasn’t crashed but the game has.
