Game crash since 11.0 update

I installed the 11.0 update, and now the game crashes every time I move my character. I get a fatal exception error. I have scanned the game file with repair, reinstalled Battle Net, disabled all add-ons, and rebooted the computer. I would include an error file, but a file that long is not allowed.

Make sure D drive has enough space for WoW to be in memory (needs 15-20% free), restart, check for updates on Bnet, scan and repair, update drivers.

I’m seeing similar behavior, just on Mac OS rather than Windows. Since the 11.0 update the game crashes after 5-10 seconds of character movement. No error appears (nor anything in error log folder), the wow app just immediately exits. Other actions like casting spells and manipulating bags and transmog don’t cause any issue. Happening on Mac OS X / M2 Max MacBook Pro, latest OS (Sonoma 14.5). No add-ons, cleared cache and interface folders. Did a scan and repair but behavior persists. Happens across multiple different characters. Filed a bug report.

<minor update 1 hour later> I tend to play with my laptop’s trackpad and hold down the left command button to simulate right clicking. I found that when I avoided hitting the command key (instead using three finger touch on my trackpad to right click) I was able to play without the constant crashes. Tested for about an hour without any issues. Started hitting command again and I crashed within a minute. I saw some reddit posts suggesting other people had issues with different specific keyboard keys causing crashes since 11.0 which gave me the idea.

Dealing with the same issues. This is something new I have happening, but mine is at random moments and I didn’t have the issue before.

I started having the same issue today, any fixes known so far?

Same. Going on four days now. I can’t move without being kicked out of the game. What is going on?

To clarify the issue, I use my mouse for movement, the right button to steer the character, and the left button to sometimes control the camera and look around. I’ve formed a habit of holding both mouse buttons simultaneously. I release one or both buttons, I get instantly kicked out of the game. The whole client closes as if it were forced to close.

This has been going on since patch day. Dozens of threads, hundreds of people reporting it. Blizz seems determined to believe this is not actually happening based on the lack of response, and when there is one, it’s a canned copy/paste approach. No mention on the known bugs. But then again, they have the money for your month of play, if you can’t actually do anything with that time, well, that’s your fault for giving them money…apparently.

EVERYONE, I THINK I FIXED THE ISSUE.

With 11.0 there were new graphics options added to the game that effect compatibility, especially with older cards. I turned them all off and it fixed by client from crashing. I run a 1060 6gb so y’all might wanna check if it fixes it for you.

Options > Graphics > Compatibility settings (scroll ALL the way down to find)
Uncheck them all. If you want, turn them on one at a time to see which one it was. It worked for me and hopefully it’ll work for you.

Following your workaround, all I turn off is “Async Resource Creation” in the Graphics settings and the game seems to be stabilised now. Thank you so much.

Trash. Nearly everything is broken since patch, and devs could not care less. Just like every other aspect of our lives, money rules all. No one cares about quality anymore, its just squeeze as much money from customers as possible

following up on this, I did A/B testing on the options and found that I can (as of this post) run the game with them turned on but there was a patch that dropped today (8/1/24) so maybe it improved stability. If it happens I’ll do some more testing but I’ll try to keep Multithreaded Rendering on since it really helps my FPS. More FPS is more DPS amirite

As of today, I’m still having this issue. I don’t even have to do anything. I just log in on my character and it crashes. I have more than 1tb of available space and 32gb of ram. This has only been happening since 11.0.

Fixed my constant crashing problem, thanks. Ric Flair WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Yup same here, but I cannot determine what the cause is because mine crashes at random…

I don’t even get an error message. My game just flat out DCs me. The weird part is it only happens on one of my two accounts. Even if both are open, doesn’t matter which account I start first. It’s the same account crashing nonstop. I can’t even be on for longer than 30 seconds so I don’t know why my they’re perfectly fine taking my sub money when I haven’t been able to play in 2 damb weeks
