Game constantly freezing when changing realm

See the title, ever since the patch dropped my game takes about 20 seconds of freezing to prevent itself from crashing every time I try to change realms and the first time I log into said realm. No issues when swapping characters on the same realm but if I try to log into a different realm it takes an abnormally long time or crashes.
Same problem here
Same here.
Same here. Bump
It's not something I've ever thought about reporting since Bliz can barely manage...well, I'm sure there's something they can manage. But yeah, every time I log on or switch realms, I get the popup asking me if I should wait for the program to continue or just close it. The freezing is especially bad if you've been DC'd by one of they myriad of other bugs, particularly when you disengage and hit the ground at the wrong angle.
It's a good 5 second freeze for me before it finally switches.
Just started googling because I have been noticing this myself. I was expecting if I did find any info it would be something from the past, but looks like this is a recent thing happening to people. So yes I have the same thing going on each time I select a different realm video freeze for a few seconds
Same here, has anyone here also notice a freeze when opening up a profession window? ie.. cooking, jewelcrafting. https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/7549 also did not help.
Seems to be related to WTF folder. I kept trying to narrow it down and try to figure out what exactly in there is doing this. I seemed to get rid of the freeze when switching realm sort of. Before I had a freeze once i switched realm and then on the select screen it would freeze. That no longer happens. Now whats happening is that the game will just freeze before even getting to the select screen.
Having to reset up every toon is not appealing. I cant believe that in 2018 we still dont have a good solution for when we have to delete this folder.

Same. Deleting Cache fixed it for a session but came back quickly.
I've given up trying to fix this with existing install. I think I'm going to uninstall all my blizz stuff and download it all over again and then install it to see if I can get to a better place

ok so did a total reinstall of the game and its still there.
My system is all up to date as well. HDD is defraged, registry is cleaned, etc. I'm on a workstation with Xenon Processors and 24 gigs of ram. Also Cleaned out my system and made sure I didn't have dust build up. Blew everything out. Seems like it gets better when trying some things but then comes back to how it was which is why I suspected the wtf folder for a bit. Never have i been able to get it to how it should be. I was trying to narrow it down with deleting a file at a time and then launching the game and testing and repeating. I also tried everything fresh and I'm still dealing with this issue.
I wasn't getting the profession window freeze, but since I uninstalled and reinstalled I am now getting that as well. I am just going to believe at this point that its on Blizz to fix this. I don't know what else I could try.

Changing realms definitely causes a freeze, wow.exe not responding. Takes about 10-20 seconds then it just works again. It is most noticeable when changing realms, also when bringing up professions, teleporting out/in of dungeons/raids/towns and/or hearthstoning.

Same issue here for some time now.

I thought this was possibly an addon issue, but (for me at least) it turned out to be non-addon related.

Replying after a month or so. It fixed for a while once I deleted the Cache folder. But it came back not too long ago. So it’s not a permanent fix.

Appears to be fixed for me since 8.1
