It is happening with me for 2 years now. I tried every single solution I could find on Blizzard tech support or reading other threads. Nothing worked. And I’m very worried now because I want to do arena, but I can’t step into it if I’m going to have my client randomly closing and making me (and my partners) lose rating.
The issue
Game crashes to desktop. There’s no error message. No error sound. Nothing. The client just close as if I have pressed alt+F4 on my keyboard.
It happens randomly on all types of situation. Sometimes it happens even on log screen, before I even select my characters.
Usually when it starts to happen, it repeats for several minutes. Like I open the game again, and after few seconds it closes. And again… and again… and again. Then after a long time that can be between 10 and 40 minutes, it stops crashing and I can play for a few hours before it randomly starts again.
My computer is not overheating.
It only happens with World of Warcraft
My spec
AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core Processor 3.40GHz
Memory: 16 GB RAM
VGA: Radeon RX 5700 XT
Windows 10
Dual Display (I don’t know if it affects in anyway)
Solutions that I tried
- Reinstall the game. Did not work.
- Scan and Repair. Did not work.
- Uninstall all addons. Did not work.
- Update video drive. Did not work.
- Delete Cache, WTF and Interface folders. Did not work.
- Add World of Warcraft to trusty list on Windows Defender. Did not work.
- Switch to DirectX 11 or DirectX 11 Legacy. None of them worked.
- Close other apps to free memory (as if I needed with 16GB RAM). Did not work.
Again, it only happens with World of Warcraft. I play games like Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 on ultra setting and I have zero issues.
Since there is no error mensage, I can’t figure out what is causing this issue. I’m looking for a solution for 2 years now (since the begin of classic) and no luck. I’m losing hope.
