Game Awards - ? Question

I mean… when was the last time WoW was nominated? It must have been quite a few years ago. ^^"

As I said, it just came across my news feed. I didn’t even know there were award shows for gaming. No need to be insulting. I was just asking a question.

I don’t think she meant it that way. It’s just that WoW hasn’t really had anything to offer for several years that would justify a nomination. Neither in terms of gameplay nor story, and let’s not even start with the devs’ behavior. That has been all over the news for several months.

Dragonflight is a small step forward, but Blizzard still has a lot ahead of them if they want to be back in the game. One can only hope for the best, and perhaps they will be nominated again someday.

Which is crazy to me tbh. Just in music alone I think WOW has deserved accolades. Just off the top of my head I can name zones with incredible music. Stormpeaks, Wintergrasp, Tiragarde Sound (in particular Kul Tiras Sky Night 6), The Iskaara from DF, Maruukai from DF.
Honestly what made me not buy the collectors edition for dragonflight was the lack of a soundtrack cd.

In general, I would agree with you. WoW has some fantastic pieces, but right now, with Dragonflight… I didn’t find it particularly memorable. Not in Shadowlands either. In BFA, on the other hand, even though I didn’t find the expansion particularly outstanding overall, it had really good soundtracks. Also, Legion before that.

I was surprised that I couldn’t pull anything off the top of my head for legion. Perhaps I should go back and listen to that xpac.

Anduin’s theme for example. I find that soundtrack incredibly relaxing.

“World of Warcraft: Legion - Anduins Theme - Neal Acree ft. Julie Elven” on youtube

it only took them what 18 years to start listening to players? hell some of the biggest problems in bfa and shadowlands were created by blizzard not listening to feedback and then ignoring it the point that only the loss of players got them back in and im not even bringing up what they did in wod. if ion would stop doubling down on bad ideas and they would listen to any feedback people might have faith in blizzard again

What I love about WoW are the different races (especially Gnomes!!!), the comic style of graphics, the fantasy setting which borrows heavily from Tolkien’s Middle Earth, the huge world map and a number of other features.
I don’t play Wow because the game has received an award for best ingame music or any other award (TBH, I haven’t listened to DF music at all).

It’s probably a combination of industry contacts working together to cross-promote + a popularity contest. Certain subreddits were campaigning hard to get people to vote. But the stronger impact is with the gaming journalists.

When it comes to Blizz games, no one is going to come together and campaign anything. No one hates the game more than the regular players.

Imagine if Blizzard got themselves some player ‘reps’ who play the game to act as liasons between them and the community at least. May help the game in a positive way

That is very good. To me though, a lot of legion music has an ambience quality to it. Not that it’s bad, but rather it didn’t rise to the forefront enough to be memorable for me. This is in stark contrast to pieces from stormpeaks with its epic French horn and strings portions, Wintergrasp with its trumpet solos, and certainly maruukai with its heavy drums and low brass.
Music is subjective though, thus awards for it will be subjective. To me, the music is one of the things this expansion got right.

Oh for sure, but continuing to say they don’t listen to players is objectively wrong at this point.

so you pulled this and ignored the beginning where i said they finally started listening to players

To be fair.

Most of the time player feedback is complete garbage, and the outcome is Torghast.

They didnt finally start listening. They have been implementing things players wanted for a long time.

yea just look at sl and bfa. alpha feedback ignored beta feed back ignored live feed back ignored for a year till they monkeys paw the change that was needed back in alpha after the damage was already done. blizzard doesnt listen so much as ignore feedback till they cant anymore then get mad people arent having fun the way they want us to and monkeys paw changes the problem and rather than being a complete fix its a semi fix and still a problem just not as bad. wow players are like star wars fans in the sense nobody hates wow like a wow player but its because blizzard hates their player base and made it like this. the only faith i have in blizzard is the faith that they will make the wrong decision every time and then double down.

Once again.

Most feedback given is bad. They listened to feedback and it (IMHO) ruined Torghast.

You can pretend they never listen to feedback, but you are wrong. Could they do better with specific things? Sure. But saying they never do, is just objectively wrong.

BTW. Last 2 expansions there have been a cluster of people on the shaman feedback threads sincerely asking for Sentry Totem to be brought back. I am extremely happy they ignored that feedback.

if you notice i said ignore not didnt listen to it. if more and more people keep telling you your standing in a puddle but you ignore them for a hour before begrudgingly admitting fine im standing in a puddle and then stomping around so everyone else is now wet thats not the same as listening to feed back or not listening. its blizzards way of making sure nobodys happy if they are not.
im also not talking about small things like people asking for a totem cause ferals been asking to not be ignored for like a decade. im talking about major xpac selling parts of the game but yea idky anyone would want sentry totem back

Like Torghast?

Where they listened to feedback in Beta and then it became a shadow of what it could have been?
