I agree i agree. I like him too. I was just making a point that his personality is much tamer. I dont even mind if Gallywix stops being the full on leader of the Bilgewater, i just dont want him to become a player enemy or get kicked out of the Horde. It wouldn’t be right and i truly believe that he has potential for great story
Also after reading your edited post i actually really like that ideas. They totally should have
They try to kill him because he enslaved them, not the other way around. Kezan erupts, he charges ludicrous amounts of money for people to get on his ship to leave, and he then enslaves them.
Whitewashing Gallywix ultimately makes him a less interesting character, so for a so called fan of his to do so is kinda silly.
You clearly didnt play it then. Because the events play out as follow.
We are a high ranking member of Kezan. We were actually appointed by Gallywix. By the time the player shows up it has been months in the making of a plan to off Gallywix.
Gallywix knows whats going on and even tells us that we remind him of him and to watch our backs. We almost suceed but in the pre celebration of becoming the next trade prince pirates attack hired by Gallywix. Every person at the party was in on killing Gallywix so hiring pirates to do some dirty work makes sense.
Unfortunately no one planned Deathwing blowing up the Volcano. All but Gallywixs metal reinforced ship was destroyed in the fires. He saves his people in the most goblin way possible. He charges them money and locks em up for thr attempted mutiny. That makes sense even in human standards, were we to live in the times before modern.
The rest of the story is Gallywix getting followers , enslaving those who tried to have him killed , all with the intent of building a new Kezan and keeping his power.
Not white washing buckaroo. Explaining that goblins do thinfs differently but even as a human standard he isnt evil. He is greedy sure, rude absolutely. But he isn’t evil. Sylvannis is and Garrosh became evil. But not as evil as Sylvannis.
You people keep throwing slavery around. He Enslaved People! Yeah we know. Yeah he did a bad ting. Sylvannis and Garrosh did countless bad things and yet people still love them.
Flawed Logic.
And you clearly didnt understand in my earlier comment when i said that im not denying bad as bad or saying he did nothing wrong. You clearly missed that part
I dont think I’m the one who hasnt played it. Its mentioned several times the way you’ll be promoted to Trade Prince(ss) is by selling stuff and having a good image, not by murder.
Anyways, you know who doesnt deny any of Gallywix’s crimes, or try to whitewash them? Gallywix himself:
You may have heard a few rumors about me. “Gallywix became trade prince by blowing up, selling out, or just selling everyone he knew. When Mount Kajaro erupted, Gallywix had the only boat, and he charged refugees the low, low price of their life savings. He packed the stars of the goblin aristocracy like sausages in the hold and tried to sell them into slavery. That monster Gallywix betrayed his entire race for a bazillion macaroons.”
Kinda terrible, huh?
Guess what? It’s all true. Why would I lie about that? I never cover up the things I’m proud of. If the world was gonna split in half tomorrow, I’d buy the Dark Portal, slap a toll booth on it, and charge refugees the last of their pocket change, the rings off their fingers, a bite of their sandwiches, and a contractual obligation to build me a rocket palace in the skies of Nagrand. It’s the goblin way! Supply and demand! Deal with it!
Its stuff like that that makes him an interesting character.
Bro. What are you on about? You are trying to make me seem the fool. When in fact we are on the same page here. I didnt deny he did anything wrong. my point of this whole shindig is that he is a cool and interesting character and deserves better.
Ive read the Blank scroll a dozen times im well aware of that part. It literally just proves my point. If you really think im saying he is a good character through and through as in morally then you havent fkn read a dm thing i said
That Gallywix did all the bad things he did because he’s a ruthless capitalist and not because he was in danger of being killed or doing it as retribution for some failed assassination scheme. You’re softening his image which just makes him less interesting.
Its actually from Trade Secrets of a Trade Prince.
My only point of contention is you ascribing reasons that didnt exist to his actions. He sold them into slavery before he was ever ‘betrayed’ by his people. His motivations werent revenge or anything, just pure greed.
Okay . Miscommunication perhaps i apologise i just…ive been up for 28 hours…im taking stuff too personally. Apologies. Look all i wanted to make a point is that he deserves a chance to stick around in wow.
you are still wrong on that point. He was betrayed before he tried selling them into slavery. He was betrayed before deathwing even showed up. Play through it again. We are the traitors in that situation. Anyone trying to take over a position of power from someone else is logically considered a traitor to that specific person. Im not saying he didnt do stuff out of greed. But i dont personally feel self preservation or the preservation of ones rank is Greed. Garrosh and Sylvannis did it in various ways. Specifically killing or banishing those they didnt want around.
He still did bad things. i never denied that. Insaid its because he does good and bad and makes dumb and clever choices is why he is neat and my all time favorite side wow character. I would say main but he hasnt been used in 10 years till now
Did you like, even PLAY the starting zone or read any of the short stories involving him? I don’t even feel like reading more than what I’ve quoted because this is just so… bad.
We were trying to get his position as trade prince, not murder him. He then forced us into slavery and when that failed (thanks alliance!) tried to murder us AND Thrall. Thrall gave him a slap on the wrist for this. Stupid decision Thrall!
Goblins are not loyal to Gallywix, they fear him. He sends employees off to die, and pays them poorly. Don’t mistake fear for loyalty.
Why do people react negatively to him? I’m sure it has nothing to do with the slavery and murder bit towards the player character. Obviously not /s That, and a number of Goblins showed selflessness and loyalty to the PC, even to the point of those Goblins risking lives to save the PC. You really know nothing about how Goblins actually are or what drives us. Tip: It ain’t Gallywix.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to stuff Gallywix INTO A CANNON, AND FIRE IT INTO THE SIDE OF A MOUNTAIN.
Even Sylvanas is more defensible than Gallywix. Come on now. The guy was clearly a flaw in the story, especially with Thrall saying he should remain leader. It stunk bad of “no character left to lead”
Remember how there was a movement for Boss Mida to be the leader instead of this chunk of waste?
Gallywix would have been a perfect trade prince, for a cartel that wasn’t Horde. Gazlowe built Orgrimmar. It’s pretty much destiny.
I’m so sorry, nobody should have to go through that.
I remember this! Sadly because Mida was a tribute to an IRL player, there was no way they would have elevated her to a Horde leadership position. Player tributes are all minor npcs. Gazlowe is a known hero since WC3 and has the respect of damn near every Goblin that works with him. He’ll make a fantastic Trade Prince.
The only redeeming quality Gally had, was he punched Garrosh. And that is still in question, cause it was all over payment negotiations, not to the goblins, but to himself.
Any goblin, even one born in the muck and slums (like Gallywix was) can work their way up to being a Trade Prince, by any means they have available. If you read Gally’s short story - you find out what he has done just to secure being a trade prince and the terror he causes other trade princes, and what was being done to him in the starting zone is all normal in Goblin culture.
Not to include that he really isn’t respected at all in the Undermine, where influence and power really counts among trade princes.
Look, if those prisoners didn’t want to be used as experiments with the blight, they shouldn’t have been alive. Also if those farmers didn’t want to die they shouldn’t have been growing pumpkins on Forsaken land!
Haha! Everyone here saying i didnt play through it or acting like im some kid. I have been in Wow since BC. Ive played the goblin starting zone 9 times. Because I find it enjoyable.
Ive played through warcraft 3, three times. Im well aware of Sylvannis’s actions.
Haha and this femake goblin foaming at the mouth over the fact that i think Gallywix should have more time in Wow. Yeah he is feared, so is Sylvannis and was Garrosh. Yet thousands were still loyal to him.
Im well aware of the goblin culture you last 15 comments clearly didnt read anything ive said. You just saw somone push the fact that a character as interesting as Gallywix should not be booted out as a figure and you grabbed your torches and pitch forks.
Also to that shmuck complaining, no one made you read it you punk. grow up.
I already said im glad people dont like him. None of you adressed the point of this. You all projected what you think i was saying without reading what i actually said.
And you goblin players out there, holy fk im well Aware of what happens. But people like to say other people are ignorant and dumb online behind the safety of the internet.
So me saying ive played it multiple times and read the short stories multiple times doesnt really help. Because yall choose what ya wanna believe.
