Is it really intended that the use of a movement ability prevent bombs from being either thrown or for the mechanic on the bridge triggering correctly? Because this has been probably the most frustrating aspect of my friend-and-family raid’s progression on heroic Gallywix.
It must be a bug, because why would you intentionally design a mechanic like that without making it clear somewhere in the journal? “Bombs are delicate and use of movement abilities may cause them not to work correctly!” in the journal would CYA and at least give some warning to players.
Really though, this should have been fixed a while ago. It is frustrating when the tools we are given on our characters that help make them distinctive arbitrarily do not work as they are intended to in service to some design goal. The devs cut the legs out from under DKs in this season’s raid by making adds in several encounters ungrippable, effectively nullifying the advantage they’re supposed to be bringing to a raid team.
Not being able to use our movement abilities in a scenario that clearly compels their use without having to fear the mechanic not triggering correctly is really frustrating. Wish you would fix that, Blizz!
Can you be more descriptive as to the issue you are experiencing? I’ve used Heroic Leap successfully with 100% of my bomb carries during Heroic Gallywix, and have also used literally every class’s movement abilities to carry the sole LFR bomb multiple times during my weekly farms for chances at the mount. Never had an issue with any of them at all.
A rogue carrying a bomb using sprint to move onto the platform and a hunter carrying a bomb using disengage onto a platform have both found that the bombs will not disable the mechanism. Similarly, people using a movement ability (divine steed in my case) and then trying to toss a bomb will instead have it drop at our feet.
There’s something else going on with this one, such as them not moving far enough onto the platform, as I’ve used both of these with 100% success.
In my experience, this is less an issue of movement and more an issue of the mechanical delay with the button changing from “drop on the ground” to “throw off this ledge” when pressed. With a movement speed boost you would naturally think this could be done faster, but I still usually have to wait half a second for it to change no matter how quickly I got to the edge.
Well, will mention it at raid tonight and see how it goes
Another thing I’ve noticed on the button behavior is that if I’m already by an edge when I pick up a bomb (e.g. the center pit), it won’t always change correctly and makes me drop it at my feet instead. Pretty finicky to have to walk away from it and back in order for it to work.
