Echoing sentiment on Wowhead that there are 2 types of awful mount farms
- those that are behind multiple layers of RNG
- those that need a lot of group effort to farm
And that this rare that somehow manages to combine both.
I’ve encountered at least 3 different people who had been farming trash piles for 6 hours without even seeing the rare spawn (this is AFTER the hotfix). Personally for today alone I went 2 hours of farming which is more or less 40 trash piles before seeing the rare spawn. And of course the mount dropped for only 1 person. And the only other time I saw the rare spawn yesterday, nobody in a group of over 35 people got the mount.
This is because for some reason the Devs decided to give the rare what seems to be a 1-5% spawn chance from every 500/500 trash pile, and then the mount itself has a 3% drop rate. Imagine farming for 6 hours and not even seeing the rare SPAWN.
At most they should have the rare spawn every 10 or 20 trash piles (this is still 30 minutes to 1 hour of farming).
The Devs in charge of these ridiculous spawn rates and drop rates should really try farming these things themselves. It’s a shame because the the art and questing teams really did an incredibly solid job on Undermine, only to have the team in charge of drop rates get in the way (AGAIN) of total success.

Yeah, i tried maybe 20 or so trash piles and we only got to 500 once or twice that i can recall (still no spawn though). I’m not even participating in any of it until these types of issues are fixed, I’m not afraid of a good old farm or grind, but this is just stupid and i want nothing to do with it.

Except it doesn’t. It requires minimal group effort to farm. 5 people are plenty to get to 500/500. Maybe stop starting the event with only 2 people there. Seconds count.
People that know better don’t start it off like this, it’s the other people arriving and initiating it even though you asked them not to via whisper, /s or begging via emotes if it’s the opposite faction. It’s just poorly designed and i don’t know why you’d want to defend it.

Lol this is in full 40 man groups. It spawns once every 20-40 trash piles usually. But you can get unlucky and not see a spawn for 80 or even 120 trash piles. And then the drop rate of the mount itself from the rare is actually closer to 1%.
They nerfed the spawn rate so hard compared to PTR but then forgot to buff the drop rate or intentionally left it that way.
