Fyr'alath's Quest Killed the Joy

One of my guildies got the axe and I had a scribe and leatherworker both at 100. I try not to log onto either of them much so when I get the axe to drop I can craft 2/3 of it for myself. I wish I didn’t have to rely on having to have crafted it for others to craft it for myself but not logging on those toons until I need to craft it for myself. But I got the recipes, might as well use the opportunity.

Actually have been playing since launch in 2004. Just because something use to be a thing doesn’t mean it still should be.

I don’t disagree. But they are designing a game for millions of people. And a large number give the opposite feedback. That the game should go back to the way it was.

I don’t completely agree with that feedback either. But if we are out here, shocked/ complaining about having to grind a bit, do a few quests or spend some gold to craft a leggo, where have you been for 20 years?

It doesn’t make sense to give up on giving feedback on the game. I enjoy playing it, this was just a bad design choice and should be called out. Can’t leave it for them thinking they did something well and we want more of it. I’m not here saying “I unsubbed this games sucks” I’m just saying they took a moment that should have been exciting and made it meh with a crappy quest design.

But that is not how this works. Every design is going to be a compromise.

They tried no leggos. People complained. They tried leggo world drops. People complained. They tried leggo drops, with a grind attached. People complained. People asked for them to go back to old drops, and now we are complaining again.

It’s why we can’t have nice things. Instead of understanding that we aren’t going to get a perfect game, we complain about every choice, ignoring that other players are giving the exact opposite feedback leaving the devs in a unwinnable spot.

Then we wonder why the game is boring.

To reset cooldowns of the items you can use the proving grounds btw.
Superblooms are terrible content but you can be done in less than a day and even faster if people help you by getting the buff.
Feels like this is just some elaborate crafting scenario which is pretty underwhelming but kinda fit this expansion when one of the main devs has a fetish for crafting.

The final quest is the only good part of the whole thing

The rest of it is stupid as dumb

Honestly I kinda liked it. Had a couple of friends I looped in on the process so maybe it didn’t feel as long. Tips that made it pretty quick;

  • If you’re doing the quest with other people the Dream withering item buff helps a ton. Get it done asap.

  • Can double/triple dip on Superbloom boss kills. Start off by joining a raid group for it (8000 is usually done by 1/2 way, final boss spawns very quick), see if any more parties still are on the boss then phase back to your home world where it might still be on.

  • Repeat rare kills work for the tether quest. If the Emerald Frenzy is up go axe mudering as many of those animals up, as you can get the Lasher rare up many times. Best I got was 4 with help. When Emerald Frenzy isn’t up, make sure you have HandyNotes Rares as it shows the ‘minor’ rares too.

I found by optimising I enjoyed it. Good advice from Zoumi on the proving grounds.

I would be shocked if anyone suggested that this be how they implement questing for the leggo… Quests are fine, making them take time is fine, making you solo mind numbing repetitive tasks with arbitrary time gates on them is not.

Hell they could have made a torghast like instance in the raid you had to do to get parts for the weapon, it would have at least been new. They’re making me go back and do things I haven’t needed/wanted to do since week 2 of the season.

In 3 superblooms yesterday I got 1 leaf to get the buff, but that came from the first bag so the guy I put it on only got 80% from finishing the event so I didn’t get a chance to get it. He’s going to log on again and help but we didn’t know if they leave the group the buff goes away and he did it on his main and I’m not going to make him sit in a group with me for 5 more hours while I finish farming superblooms.

Partway into the initial gathering quests myself, gonna be a lil bit of a time grind fo sho lol. But if there’s diff levels to the weapon like the further into the quest you go (i haven’t looked into it cuz i wanted it to be fresh but i may look into that specifically), then depending on how much of a pain the later quests are i may just stick with the initial axe, again if there are diff stages to it like the older legendaries.

Thanks for the tips. I didn’t want to have to phase hop but I guess that might be the better bet to get through this.

My pleasure! I did have help along the whole way and was chin wagging in discord with friends who were as hyped as I was. I can imagine it to be a much more tedious and boring experience. It should be designed for everyone.

My axe wielder!

Nice! My guild was jokingly mad at me because this is an alt that I didn’t play this season and I was the first to get it and it was the first time I brought it to a heroic run. DH’s pretty much done with gear so may retire it until next season and Pal up the rest of this one.

They know people liked legendaries in vanilla, but they didn’t understand why.
