Fyr'alath the Dreamrender - probably one of the worst legendary items ever designed

I was lucky enough to get the quest item for the new legendary item. After 3 days of extremely not fun grind/quests and gold sinks i managed to obtain the orange colored axe.

I never thought that id say this but im starting to hate that item.

Brief explanation how it works:
Every time you attack a target it applies a DOT damage on it (does OK damage). Each DOT increase the on-use damage by 10% (Stacks up to 50%). Using the axe spell makes you leap towards your target (like Fyrakk does) and then you start cleaving everything infront of you for 3 seconds. (Damage is split between the targets)

Now why i hate it:

  • As Unholy DK i have to use death and decay and then cleave to spread the dot, there is no other way to spread it. Thats a bit annoying but its okey.

  • Its another 2min cooldown to track, that might be okey for specs like ret pala but as Unholy it adds ANOTHER cooldown to track. A spec that already have 6 cooldown spells from 45sec up to 3min plus Death and decay which is another cooldown.

  • On-use damage feels really weak for what it does and HOW it does it.

  • And the worst part. That 3 seconds cast - it ROOTS you in place and you cannot cast anything else during that time. Have fun avoiding stuff on the ground.

Whoever designed this item clearly took inspiration from Shadowmourne but for some reason decided to overcomplicate it for no reason. That on use effect should be removed and replaced with a passive damage+stat proc.

I really like how it looks and that dot feels nice but the rest should be redesigned…

Looks pretty cool, at least. I can see the transmog potential.

It doesn’t sound anything like Shadowmourne. :dracthyr_crylaugh:

That’s all it really is.

OP we need a thousand more threads whining about the exact same thing.

Hurry, time is of the essence.

Be the change you sarcastically want to see in the world.

At this point you cannot take these threads seriously anymore.

It should just charge you and do the burst damage. Remove, the channel, melee’s hate channeling things that lock you in place, and, hell, even ranged hate spells that geographically lock you (rune of power says hello).

You took them seriously once?

A charge instant would be too front loaded for pvp probably.

It could be like fists of fury and it would probably be okay.

Indeed.

just reduce it in damage for PvP, or disable the active. They already alter values on damage separately between PvP and PvE. Numbers are not the issue, the functionality is and the disruption in your rotation. FoF sucks to channel as well even if you can move, it’s also likely an easier fix changing a value of 3 to 0 in the damage/channel portion of what’s already built.

Regarding PvP you also have to question whether the legendary, that is this rare, should even be usable for a competitive mode which should have a reasonably even playing field (for ranked). An rng legendary inherently creates an uneven playing field. If you’re talking casual bg’s then you’ve already lost the argument given it’s a kicks and giggles mode of content where broken stuff already happens (pots etc.).

Good choice of race for Forum RP :brain:

The channel rooting is lame, should be movable during it.

If you frequent the forums so much that new threads are becoming repetitive, either frequent the forums less or stop commenting about it. Because that’s a you problem.

I haven’t seen this complaint before, so it’s new to me, and I can appreciate the OP sharing his feedback.

I didn’t make a complaint and at this point I’m pretty sure the devs are aware of the playerbase unsatisfaction towards the legendary. Hence my comment to belittle what is actually a rant…

I enjoy reading the forum. There is some interesting stuff here, but you know, it gets annoying scrolling through players frustration over and over again.

Sounds fine to me. I mean 3 seconds is nothing if you’re smart enough you’ll be able to use it well anyway. Tracking another thing is a nonissue in a game like this with the addons we have that blink in your face and tell you to do things. Not sure how much of a dps loss a 3 second cast would be if it does good damage and you still have damage going out.

I say it’s fine.

You think I made this character to post on the forums?

With that said, adiĂłs amigo

On burst anything from items is problematic in pvp. It’s why rogues eat a nerf every so often, because they just gang up and delete someone every minute with burst trinkets. I wouldn’t want to see plate classes get a nerf to sustain because all of a sudden the execute window is a little more dangerous. If it’s worth pressing at all, that on use all of sudden becomes more dangerous than anything else in the war/Pld/DK kit… that’s scary.

That sounds like the skillets trinket from nathria all over again. I’d rather they either ramp up the sustain via the dot and add an on use flare up effect to do aoe on a 1 min CD (stronger for raid/m+/sustain) or just make it like fists of fury.

The root isn’t a huge issue in the raid, you can find opportune moments to use it. Even in m+ I wouldn’t say it’s as bad as what everyone says.

Cleaving that dot around is a big headache though, and it’s bugged for frost DK currently.
