Tether for Rares can’t be in combat… why? Cuz there is no other item like that except the frost/fire ghost traps that people also hated all xpac?
10+ Superblooms. Why? Cuz nobody enjoys that content?
2 times I gave my dreamleaf helper quest to someone in an Axe Superbloom raid who completed and saved the reward for one of their friends instead of giving me the % buff
Most of the people I target for dreamleaf are “invalid targets” so beggers can’t be choosers…
(edit: I’ve now given Tattered Dreamleaf quest to 5 people: 3 have stolen my buff to save for a friend, 1 used the item and it did not give buff, and 1 gave me the buff and buff disappeared after they left the group. GG)
Disenchant things 12-15 times, but your Disenchant rod has a 5min cooldown. Why?
the whole acquisition is world content, but the worst parts are turned up to 11, and has nothing to do with skill or *gasp *, the raid! (I doubt the mage tower challenge step versus the Ghost of Fyrakk Past will be anything impressive).
Then when you hate all that stuff more than you did after week 2, surprise!: Pay out 200k to 400k in gold depending on what you’ve collected.
All for an axe ability that channels and roots you in place (why?), and maybe does less dps than the Augury trinket. AND, you can’t open with the charge, because the charge explodes your debuffs you’ve presumably put on your targets… why?!?
GG, most obnoxious leggo in the game, and I have them all except Evoker(eww), and Hand of Rag.
GG.
Also, the questgiver doesn’t have a model. It’s the placeholder white/blue box we see in PTR/NYI assets. And the Axe has no graphic in the armory, icon, or a tooltip. Half-baked, subpar, embarrassing.
Want to know how I can tell devs don’t play their own game? Nobody would choose to implement this garbage if they intended to do it themselves.
Want to make this less obnoxious and feel more like an enjoyable gameplay experience and maybe even worth it?:
Allow us to move for the channel, and/or change the postule/explodes so we can charge as an opener.
Be glad this isn’t EverQuest levels of obtaining a “legendary”
Have to do an old raid no one does with an RNG that is worse than WoW
Then, you have to take up crafting professions that have nothing to do with the item, an example is IIRC an earring had to be set in an alcohol base you could only learn from alcohol making profession
Then, you have to follow a quest line for a year just to wear it
I’m 42, I was around for EQ. This isn’t 1998.
We’ve learned things since then. Crafting Profession points should be resetable.
I shouldn’t have a pester popup every time I get a new one to spend it real quick, especially since they can’t be reset.
Wyrms Crest is a terrible system too, we had better systems for gearing back in 1998.
Heck, we had better gearing systems in SHADOWLANDS.
And We’ve had better Legendary acquisition in this very game, eg; Shadowmourne, Tarecgosa’s, Vala’nyr.
FFXIV: Ultimate Weapons and POTD.
So no, There’s nothing to be “glad” for. The modern game is an outright embarrassment.
Although I agree with you, there are a couple talking points in your post that aren’t so great.
Mostly this thing about the “cost.” When the list of mats was released, I went to ZC and started farming (as the Awakened Order only comes from herb/mining, and Spores only from ZC). It took me… 90mins? Maybe slightly more, but not much more. The rest of the mats are dead simple to farm.
The problem in this game isn’t the mats list, it’s that we’re now in an age where no one seems to want to play this game anymore. EVERYTHING just devolves to “meh… just buy a Token.” It’s not Blizzard’s fault people are pathetically LAZY. If something is locked behind layers of RNG walls that amount to 100 hours of gameplay … and it’s in the AH for 7k gold… that’s one thing. But in THIS CASE, the stuff is simple to acquire. If you don’t want to put in the most MODEST effort for a LEGENDARY, you won’t get my sympathy.
?? This is pointless.
Imagine an item with (sic) 700 Strength.
Now imagine the same item with 650 Strength, but you can add a +50 Str gem.
It’s the same thing. Sockets might add to the overall “fun” of the game, and give the JC profession something to do, but the overall STAT BUDGET of an item is predetermined. There is no “adding a socket.” And if you want to argue control of secondary stats, sockets on a SINGLE item of gear aren’t enough to matter anyway.
Said another way: there are enough things to complain about this lame legendary without resorting to weak arguments. The fact that it’s TERRIBLE is enough to take Blizzard to task.
I don’t even want the thing. If I care enough to try I’ll go Pug my way through to AOTC and maybe dip into the first few Mythic bosses for fun. Likely don’t need this thing at all, and besides it’ll probably be considerably easier to get in season 4.
The Necromancer one had you actually having to keep a group in the Plains of Discord for nearly a week so it doesn’t respawn, doing that stuff in shifts.
Try being an Enchanter with Mesermerize and having to call in sick to middle school to make sure your shift in the Plains didn’t get you booted.
The dot and on-use is about 8% of my damage, that’s pretty significant for just one button.
…just hit it once with anything first (including an auto attack), then click it? It’s not that big a deal.
You also forget having 496 ilvl alone is a huge damage jump over even a mythic 489 weapon.
