I don’t know how it is in the US, but here in Germany we get something like tax benefits for working at home when it’s listed in the annual tax declaration.
I just have the stories from my partner and he had different experiences in two software companies. Sometimes it was in person, but sometimes - yes, they used the phone or an internal chat/voice program when they needed to talk to someone who was sitting at another floor or in another room.
In what kind of office would that be case? The office that’s usually still operating with paperwork and printers instead of digital communication?
My nephew doesnt even have a high school diploma and makes enough to own a home and a car. Hes doing quite well. What he doesnt do is pay 9 dollars apiece for 3 cups of over priced coffee a day. He doesnt eat out every meal. He doesnt own every streaming service and a 1000 dollar phone just because it trendy and new.
I dunno. It happens all the time for me. Call tech, no answer. Add my number to callback list. 2 hours later I get call but im already off site or figured it out. Emails are worse.
I am actually curious though. Has this actually happened to people, where immedient repercussions aren’t taken?
I am 100% remote (because my department can be fully operational remote and it opened the company up to a wider pool of employees across the country instead of locally in one city), and in the 3 solid years we’ve been doing this, I think there was only one time an agent did not respond to a phone call when prompted, and he was given the appropriate lashing for it.
Are there other companies where this just happens and everyone just goes “Well I can’t see them so I guess they must have gone to Narnia. Oh well!”
Sorry I felt like you had a big enough brain to read the rest of the article on your own to find this part:
Already before COVID, we had peer-reviewed research demonstrating that remote work improved productivity. A NASDAQ-listed company randomly assigned call center employees to work from home or the office for 9 months. Work from home resulted in a 13% performance increase, due to a combination of fewer sick days, and a quieter and more convenient work environment. Those working from home had improved work satisfaction and a 50% lower attrition rate. A more recent study with random assignment of programmers, marketing, and finance staff found that hybrid work, similarly to remote work, reduces attrition by 35% and resulted in 8% more code written.
And then click on the link to the peer-reviewed study. Also scrolling down further to see the other studies linked.
Wuh oh! Their using political terminology to try and make themselves sound more intelligent!
Let me baseline this for you. Women should not be harrassed in the workplace. I don’t care how the “GaMiNg InDuStRy Is FiLlEd WiTh UnPrOfEsSiOnAlIsM”. That’s no excuse for what went on there and then forcing employees back into that situation when it has been shown that they can get work done from home.
It’s awesome that you feel that way! For many people, it’s about the time wasted to go in person. You save so much time and money not having to drive (for a lot of people, especially in socal that drive could be over an hour each way), so it is about convenience not about not wanting to see people. You can always socialize after work, plus many have family at home anyway, so it isn’t like they’re getting no interaction at all.
Many of the people enjoying work from home also grew up interacting over a screen anyway, it isn’t unusual for me to spend most of my days off just chilling at home.
You’re bragging so much about all your education and your (alleged) status that I’m not really willing to believe you. We’re in a forum after all. This has some serious “I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals”-vibes. No one here cares whether you’re a carpenter, a factory worker or some kind of fancy scientist and it’s a bit weird that you insist on repeating this so often when it’s not really contributing anything to the discussion.
Studied scientists but can’t even click on sources to an article.
Then they may have a lot of other emergency stuff to do. You showing up at their desk and disturbing them with questions and explanations to your problem while they have other important problems to fix may not be that optimal and another argument for wfh.
And they can work harder in the office. Dragonflight has more holes in it than a tennis racket . The boss said get back to work so either do it or quit.
I’m sorry I assumed your big science brain knew how to use an adblocker, my bad.
It has like 20+ links to various studies that all come to the same conclusion about worker productivity increasing and worker satisfaction increasing when given the option to work from home.
If you want to ignore like ~20+ studies that all come to the same conclusion because it clashes with your personal world view, that doesn’t seem very scientific.
And Shadowlands wasn’t?!?!? Also the consensus that I’m getting while Dragonflight is just alright to meh, it’s way better then the dumpsterfire that was both BFA and SL
