So I don’t know how many of you guys already know this, but there is a new AI service that is able to create complete speech with text input, from audio samples, the results are mind blowing, here are some examples,

Do you guys think blizzard could implement this kind of technology for wow? take audio samples from voice actors and just have the ai produce the speech for pretty much everything, imagine the entire quest log is read to us as we open it, the future is here.

Hahahahahahahahahahaha. No. Blizz would NEVER put enough funds to even attempt that like ESO does, they’d rather fire tons of employees on a successful profit year instead and put it towards future mobile games like Diablo Immortal gatcha games.

But this isn’t like what ESO does, ESO have voice actors read the scripts… this is completely ai generated voice.
There’s too many characters in wow is the problem. And this still costs money to do. And AI voice is far from perfect or what we’d like.

I made Wrathion say so much screwed up stuff you have no idea.
I’ve lost count how many characters Female Commander Shepard (Jennifer Hale) has voiced in the last 3 expansions. Everytime I find a new character and hear her voice, I’m like “Hey, it’s femshep again!” Kind of reminds me of the guy who voices most of the NPCs in Skyrim.

I’m pretty sure that using AI generated voice actors wouldn’t go over well with the Screen Actors Guild…which would hurt them in other projects

Blizzard being the cheap scum they are just might use this software instead of giving voice actors jobs like guild wars 2 like true art.
But im sure blizzard fans will snort this up with a straw.
Im happy im young enough to see how AI will progress over the decades.
Im depressed im old enough to realize the richest among us will undoubtedly use it as a weapon to oppress the masses.

The people in charge care about ROI. Paying voice actors when not needed isn’t happening.
In fact, I bet we will see less voiced cut scenes in the future

40k is so much more simple.
It doesn’t really who or what you are when there’s a Hive Tyrant looking to tear into your town hall.
WoW should have been fully voiced a very long time ago.
40k isn’t simple at all.
I think a lot of fans of the series know little of the lore. Ex - Space Marines look like big burly men… but other than the ones that fall to Slaanesh they are ‘aces’ in today’s terms and likely don’t even have their twig n’ berries anymore. Just a bunch of dudes on a ship polishing their guns.
I do wish we had a warhammer 40k or fantasy mmorpg, not the private server one.
To be fair I am an avid fan of their lore.
Only weak point in lore is mostly in xeno species like the Eldar. Though I have some cursory knowledge.
