Future of : The world of warcraft Through a mirror darkly

So i am listing off an idea i had about how they could retcon the universally hated lore while fixing/mending lore with prior expansions’ this is my first time putting it down so be nice, but constructive criticism is more than welcome. but without further Ado i present to you my idea of the next five plus expansions of WoW…

So at the end of Dragonflight, the final boss being (Assumedly) Murozond we face off with him, but just as we get him to sub 10% he unleashes a spell which is called (Chronal retribalization) i.e. we lose, in doing so we’re either thrown back in time or shot into an alternate Azeroth/Draenor with no way to get home. in this new Draenor/Azeroth set in a pre-legion WoW we either just arrived through the dark portal into Au Draenor or are about to head with most of the first patch of WoD2 playing out like our WoD with slight changes to names and places. for one instead of us letting Gul’dan and the shadow council out to close the portal we arrive to find the portal is very much powered by a fallen naaru with the shadow council very much in charge of the Iron horde.

Other changes being Twilight dragon agents having followed us, through the portal at the behest of they’re new queen/mother who is rebuilding somewhere in Azeroth. Having followed us disguised as both horde and Alliance troops they would stoke the mutual distrust and even hate to the opposite faction among the trooper, though the leaders would not be so easily swayed with Khadgar being the one to unmask the first agent. Mechanically WoD2 at the start minus what i have said would be like a bolstered zone with slight changes due to these changes in both the dungeons, the first raid (Infinite dragons being the extra final bosses of the first patch with them keep popping up as puppet masters in the shadows.) updated zones, playable class? Tinkerer Introduced as a mix of engineering and a joint effort with goblins and Gnomes (Prior to entering the portal) the second major patch would be the Ogre Empire with them invading parts of the east side of draenor with us following them back to their massive Island Ogre empire equaling to half the size of draenor in scale, we would work with Ogre rebels rebeling against the current emperor (said rebels would be lead by a female Ogre) and the enslaved Saberon and a few new races we’ve not seen prior as they are extinct on all but the Ogre Empire. As we get to the emperor in a raid we find he’s been corrupted into a tyrant by shadow/necrotic magic into an undead abomination by a Twilight dragon puppet master… (P.s. ran out of room :frowning: )

Okay. Calm down. Paragraphs are your friend. o.O

Sorry i rambled on in my first post, but i’ll make this shorter, highlights from WoD 2 past this point, Shattrath Raid tier, (Many Draenei, Horde/Alliance fight bravely before we arrive with Maraad getting his wish to give his life defending his people, (inside said raid also more twilight dragons) secondary content, delving into the fungle spore/thing as a full blown mini raid a sealed off part of the emerald dream which has found its way into draenor as shown in prior quests. Yrel and Grommash Hellscream Actually get 2 extra patches to flesh out their story arcs! :astonished:

after we defeat the shadow council and their demon masters we get a finishing expansion cinematic where everyones gathered in the horde/Alliance garrison having a feast when Medivh comes swooping in as his raven from and transforms before our very eyes (Like WC3 throne scene) announcing the legion has invaded Azeroth, with the pre-patch being us returning and getting a foot hold.

New races, Ogres for horde, Saberon for Alliance In short it would play out like the early parts of legion with the Legion on a revamped broken shore/isles, also invading old zones with power in them, like Ice crown and the dragon Isles, legion would be two expansions the first getting them off Azeroth, the second taking the fight to the legion worlds. with the sorcerer being a new class, and a new spec added to the DH and Evoker with the closer we get to argus the more void influences you get along with Twilight dragon agents and a strange tie to necromancy. when we return to Azeroth we find N’zoth has risen and with his Naga forces have free’d Yogg and re-awaken G’huun and together they’ve recreated the black empire with the factions as we knew them gone reduced to only hold out bases in Undercity and the Exodar.

forcing us to recruit races into the fledgling factions we had once stuck our nose up at, or even fought against, at this point references by the Twilight dragon flight to their true master The jailer. The one whom would tear asunder the veil between life and death and plunge all existence into the Maw would be screamed at the players by both the void and the constant Twilight dragonflight and as we with the help of Wrathion and the remaining dragon flight leaders, and Cenarius would find a way to kill or banish the old gods from Azeroth. At the end the Sky would sunder as the death we had caused had fueled him.

Sylvanas windrunner would not be working for the jailer instead seeing the deal she made with the Val’kyr was actually the Jailers work. Every soul she killed/raised he got a third, seeing the Maw first hand she along with named characters we lost along the way Maraad and the winter queen, being one would be leading the last hope for reversing the tide as Both Maldraxxus and Revendreth had their leaders switch sides, and the Archon was dead. (Class, Necromancer… maybe the 4 covenant races as playable?) and after we defeat the Jailer with the help of the Pantheon we’d return to a peaceful Azeroth with probably a time skip from when we left. The Horde and Alliance merged into a mega faction with some races still waging internal political games, with a brand new land mass previously hidden by the Naga opened up being the back side of azeroth with new races and all new foes to face.

I’m tired of draenor. Give me an alternate Azeroth with an alternate invasion.

As much as I think the lore and story in this game is trash, I find goofy fanfiction to be even worse.

What would invade Azeroth if not Orcs?

I just want to point out your second post was actually ~140 words longer than your first one. It’s not a bad thing to learn to be concise lol.

Again this was a rough idea of what could be done with a retcon it wasn’t a 100% tip for tat, it wasn’t meant as a fan fiction, but i’ll try not to add too much Lore to my next post

Retcons and alternate realities only make the story more convoluted not less. That history you want to mess with now exists in our collective memory beyond the reach of any edits to data files.

Done that before but i usually spend more time explaining what i meant then talking about the broad idea. Had i gone into the first parts level of detail i’d still be writing. But any who a Retcon of the last 2 expansions is something i, and most of the WoW lore junkies have been hoping for, rule of cool for was decent for WoD and Legion but past that the inconsistencies kinda killed the world, even the lore team agrees it was bad, as they found a scape goat.

Hmm… just spitballin here but maybe an evil empire led by some warlord Emperor. His name could be like Ming the Merciless or something.

WoD was a disappointment enough without revisiting the same thing this quickly.

I wouldn’t mind a time travel type expansion, but somewhere other than that. Maybe go back and expand upon the End Time stuff for a shattered future, or go back to an alternate Azeroth past like where General Blackmoore and his Warmaster Thrall fight against the ruined Alliance that’s scrambling to survive.

Heck, since they love Oribos Grand Central Station, have several “lands” that are a combination of various ones similar to the old Lands of Lore 3 or Sands of Time type storylines. We mess up something major, so it screws up everything else.

Also, please, NO MORE FREAKING SYLVANAS. The stink needs to clear for awhile.

The TLDR

:dragon: :cyclone: :dragon: :cyclone::dragon: :cyclone::dragon: :cyclone:

Tbf just because a expansion plot was poorly handled I.e. like WoD half developed and left to flounder w/o a whole middle patch (Just like Bfa) doesn’t mean it should not be fixed of revisited and mind you the devs did say in a off handed comment when asked "they may revisit the expansion/fix it or add more should they get the ‘time or resources’ " so i couldn’t help but want them to turn one of their biggest/first failures into a rebirth of the game later on.

And yes i agree diffrent times should be explored this was just one i liked the most because it would give them the chance to fix WoD, change the ruinous lore of Bfa/SL and the Sylvanas fan boys at the writing team would still get to do they’re hero worship (i personally hate her)
