Future hero talent concepts

So since they said Hero specs were to be evergreen I’m assuming they’re going to be the main source of new leveling power going forward, so what would you see as the best way to implement hero trees for the other three flights?

We’re still missing blue/sapphire, green/emerald and… Vyranoth’s which for now I’m going to stick to calling the storms/silver flight. Would you add a corrupted Sarkareth-like spec (I guess glyphs could work too)? Would you split storm in sub flights like stormdrakes and netherdrakes?

Would green be an even purer healer, like resto evoker?

I believe they’re simply going to add to Flameshaper, Scalecommander, and Chronowarden, not create entirely new concepts.

I think that would be tragic, as Evoker is not, by far, the only class which deserves additional archetypes that way (hunter is basically elf (alive), elf (dead), or Rexxar right now for example, it needs variety)

Maybe but it’s a cool idea to get more. I think the green and blue dragonflights need a tree of their own. I also think red (flameshaper) could use some more flashier animations. It just feels like the tree hardly makes our gameplay any different besides adding a button to press twice.

It took me a bit to realize the first skill in the flameshaper tree was an active lmao - I spent the entirety of Dorn wondering what I was doing wrong

Its a very unimpressive looking ability. Even when i do press it, it feels like nothing happened lol

Oooh i also think it would’ve been cool if we got some infinite or netherwing stuff. We can’t forget about the “baddies” :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Those are the Warcraft heroes the Hunter class is largely based on; Tyrande, Sylvanas, and Rexxar from WC3.

Evokers are somewhat based on Alexstraza (Flameshaper), Chromie (Chronowarden), and Deathwing (Scalecommander) from HotS.

With that said, Flameshaper definitely needs a visual upgrade.

Sure, but hunter also moved beyond this; Survival integrated tinker-y aspects, mountaineers and plain hunters could easily be worked in as archetypes, in the case of hunter. While it’s obvious that HOTS’s dragon heroes were the main inspiration it can’t just be that in the long term if hero specs are to be evergreen, imo (and I’m pretty sure there was a bit of onyxia in the design of Scalecommander too)

What “Tinker-y aspects”? I wouldn’t consider tossing a bomb to be a Tinker aspect. If a Hunter hopped into a mech like Gazlowe or Mekkatorque, I could agree with that assessment.

Also I disagree that Alexstraza, Chromie, and Deathwing couldn’t provide further inspiration long term. There’s still a lot of concepts from those three dragons (and others in their flights) that could be utilized.

With that said, nothing stops Blizzard from integrating more Blue and Green spells into the existing talent trees going forward.

It’s limited, fair, but it’s still the class with the most techy skills (I guess outlaw has pistols too)

And I feel mashing the archetypes too much just defeats the purpose to a point where it becomes another morass of a system. Basing them on specific heroes or their flights provided a guiding theme, which it would easily if they expanded the concept.

In fact I feel like not going for an easy W and expanding the number of hero specs over time would be rather stupid for most classes.
