In my view, after Vanilla runs its course for a few years, I would like to see Blizzard introduce the next Classic expansion as a separate entity.
I'd like to be able to make a copy of my lvl 60 toons to the new expansion, while keeping my 60's in Vanilla too. This could go on for every expansion forward. Being able to experience or re-experience those expansions live, would bring so many subscriptions to Blizz. You have the choice of playing whichever expansion you loved as it would be retail.
I see those classic expansions as an escape. How many times I stop playing the retail cuz I got fed up with it. If I had the alternative of Classic, Bc, Wotlk, etc...I would not cancel my subscription and just went to play that.
What do you guys think of this idea of eventually bringing some old expansions back in the game, as separate entities?
I'm not saying they will...but if classic was a MASSIVE success and got to the point where it will start to get stagnant for the majority, they would be foolish not to release TBC.
All I am going to say about that.

I sure as hell hope not. I'd stop playing if they started tacking expansions onto Classic.
Fine with me - AS LONG AS THEY LEAVE CLASSIC ALONE. Sure allow for copies from Classic to the new xpac. But Classic must always be available for play.

That is what I'm saying. They would never upgrade it to BC. It's Vanilla ONLY or Vanilla and TBC on separate servers.

They won't do that. That'd be, what, THREE versions of the same MMO being run simultaneously? They're pushing it with two as it is.

I put it in bold characters: As 2 separate entities.

And I just pointed out why they wouldn't do that.
We will see TBC servers in less than a year. Not sure how much content ya'll think was in Vanilla, lol.
And ya'll need to stop acting like this some magical server that only the Gods of Blizzard could create. Its standard operating procedure for any MMO over 10 years old. Once Vanilla is in a good spot, its as easy as flipping a switch for TBC, WoTLK, Cata servers.

Yes please to the first two expansions down the road. Forget anything past and including Cata when the game went down the drain.
This is a good idea.
I'd prefer without the character copying, but either way.

If you could only play in one of the old wow versions or current retail, which would you choose?
41.86 % (72 votes)Vanilla
28.49 % (49 votes)The Burning Crusade

Gonna say while there are some that prefer the expansions, by and large vanilla/classic is the one the majority want. (Yeah, I did not include Cata and Pandas. But yeah, seriously?)

I initially said I wanted this if they do BC: Classic realms, but there are potential problems I'm not sure of the right solution for.
Would those copies have all the mats and gold the player could mail to them before doing the copy? (Ever seen the tricks people pull to have way more on the PTR when there are character copies available?)
Would every realm have a duplicate in BC: Classic, or would copying have us picking a realm and potentially dividing communities up?

I've been hoping for that since the beginning. I want WOW: Classic to be a major success, and to get BC: Classic. Those two, and I will split my gaming time without losing interest for many years.

They'll transition all classic servers to BC after 2-3 years. It's clear there's enough demand for BC and they won't run classic in a static state forever. I won't play it though because flying mounts suck.
we all know that Banilla comes after Vanilla. So silly asf question.

More of a demand to remain at vanilla. Unless you have other current data to submit.

I've been playing since late 2009 and I've only ever seen demand for vanilla servers from Blizzard. Vanilla's also the most popular pserver option out there.

I sincerely hope not, and I'm very pro-BC servers.
I want the WOW: Classic servers unchanging, with any BC: Classic servers their own account, their own realms. (I don't say much about Wrath: Classic because personally I have no interest in playing anything past BC, but I'm not opposed to a sequential release over time for those who do want to play later content without the most current changes.)
I'm actually hoping they consider this by the time the WOW: Classic development team has wrapped up and that is releasing, because they'd be the best suited to retain as employees and move right into the next expansion.

Yup. If my numbers are accurate you'd see ~40% of the vanilla playerbase quit or go back to PSs. For blizzard to ignore history and repeat it again would be monumentally dumb.
