EDIT: Posted in Dungeons, Raids, and Scenarios because this implementation attempted to resolve an abuse that was taking place in Dungeons, and affects players in dungeons primarily.
They’ve already returned and started spamming up Trade with their offers of Freehold carries for power-leveling. Now they are just by geared 120’s doing it. As each week passes, so increases their numbers and offers.
It’s like watching a snowball turn into a boulder atm.
When 110 Twinks were doing it, and we need to clarify it was 110 Demon Hunter twinks doing it, no one else was making a living off that in-game player to player service that wasn’t a DH. The difference in power, and therefor time, was staggeringly different in favor of DH’s.
As I suggested, you just needed to nerf eyebeam’s damage on 110’s to stop the abuse.
Now your reasoning might be, well then other classes would do it.
That’s what you have RIGHT NOW. Yes. Welcome back to 10 levels in 2 hours again.
And, those other classes at 110, would still be slower at it than what you have now.
It now has the potential to be a worse problem than before, since you know… anyone geared enough can do it pretty much.
Now your reasoning might be, well it was easy to make a 110 twink and gear it out vs a 120 geared out…
Stop right there.
You mean it’s “hard” to purchase +10 carries and mythic raid carries?
Certainly you jest. The massive spam of such services does and always has dwarfed that of FH power-leveling offered services.
So what’s different?
- The potential for things to be substantially worse.
and more importantly - less money spent on character boosting services.
Not sure what was accomplished in the long run.
All I know is, my freedom to generously help random people on my twink, was completely removed from the game. While the dungeons might go a lot faster for them with me in there, the xp with 5 people was far from… abusive.
I still don’t understand the point of nerfing XP-off players with this 90% reduction in XP debuff for anyone grouping with them (outside of random instance groups).
Actually I commend your decision to nerf BFA gear on Legion only characters. I thought that was legit. But the debuff nerf… lasted 3 months.
.
.
.
So here’s our fix. It lasted a whopping 3 months because we didn’t think this out. And instead of using a scalpel to fix the problem, we used our trusty sledgehammer… as usual.
It’s obvious guys. It really is. You panicked and scrambled to come up with something as quick as possible and didn’t properly think it all out.
Sometimes you gotta let undesirable things exist to a lesser degree to prevent them from being incredibly worse.
This is one of those moments.
Reverse the change. Remove that atrocious friend-killer debuff. And do what you should have done the whole time.
- Reduce 2 Set bonus on the Felreaper set to only 20% increased damage to Eye Beam.
- Insert a minimum reduction in cd to 10 seconds on Raddon’s Cascading Eyes legendary to Eye Beam.
ITEM CHANGES to STOP ABUSE. The easiest imp’s in the bucket.
They can still use it a lot, it’s still potent and on the level of other classes, but they aren’t spamming it endlessly to mow down 50 mobs with impunity.
It’s literally those two items that allows them to do this miles better than anyone else and led to the rampant abuse. I know this, because I made a 110 DH and experienced it myself first hand.
