For dual wielding two hand weapons, does the off hand do less damage than the main hand? Or do the weapons do the damage they are supposed two regardless of if it’s in the main hand or the off hand? Are abilities applied to both two hand weapons or just the main hand?
Yes, as far as white damage (auto attack) goes
They go off of attack power (so Strength and trinket procs and things like that), and not weapon damage.
Not an expert but this has been my understanding. A way to think of weapon DPS is that attacks will do damage based on attack power, which will vary by the amount of your base stat you have (Strength, Agi) and then multiplied by a weapon coefficient. Weapons such as daggers will have a lower coefficient, but will have higher attack speed, 2H’s or range weapons have higher values but are of course slower. In the case of dual wielding you just take the coefficient and divide it by two.
When it comes to abilities you essentially apply the same concept of attack power, weapon modifier and then you include the damage modifier of the abilities (eg: Raging blow is 61.1% * attack power). Off-hand to my knowledge is treated as a second calculation, but again the weapon modifier is divided by two.
This of course will again get more complicated with say vers, crit chance, a classes mastery, if attacks will miss and armor will effect damage ect… but that’s kind of the bare bones of what a weapon is doing to my understanding.
