Hey all,
Coming back after a hiatus from Shadowlands and starting new as Fury from Ret and BM Hunter in most expansions, and it seems like a bit more of a time sink to get two 2H weapons to have similar damage to classes that only need one. Being ultra casual now, it’s not a big concern, but I am curious if it has ever been brought up as an issue in the Warrior forums for fury. I have to farm double the conquest to get my second Arena sword to do similar damage to arms or ret, or any class needing 1 weapon. Is this intentional? I know fury used to use 1H weapons which cost the same as one 2H weapon, but it seems like an unnecessary time sink to get that second weapon. Nonetheless, I am just curious as to what other fury players who have been playing much longer than I have thought about this.
Thanks for any and all replies

That’s just the drawbacks of the weapon system we have in place atm for WoW, where some specs use a single 2h, use a mainhand and offhand and then there is fury who uses 2x 2hs as the odd one out.
How it works now is probably the least issue causing way for it to function without changing the gearing system in place.
If there was to be parity in weapons being only a single slot item, that magically produced an offhand/shield such as Legion Artefact Weapons that would mean everyone would just need one drop to cover their spec (like in FFXIV).
This would be simple in creating a mirror for dual wielders which ends up being effectively no additional art involvement, however for Shield/Offhand users this would cause some other issues.
A unique shield (outside of difficulty reskins) would need to be designed alongside every Str/Int weapon, and then every Int weapon would also need an accompanied Offhand for people who can equip the weapon, but can’t equip a shield.
Then you fall into the following design trap of what stats will that generated offhand/shield have?
Would it be the exact same stat ratio spread as the mainhand?
Would it be the other two stats not present on the mainhand?
Would they have different values all together?
What if someone wanted different stats on their offhand now?
What would happen with Cantrip effects on the mirrored item slot?
For now, deal with it is basically how everyone playing warrior just goes. It’s short straw we’ve drawn for what is effectively one of the cooler unique passives that defines a spec.
If weapons were 1 item for both hands instead of the current system where each weapon, off hand, or shield drops separately, I would still want to xmog both weapons separately. It was very important to me, on my DK, during Legion and BfA to do whatever I could to look like I only had one weapon equipped. I can’t do that if both weapons shared the same xmog. Some players might want a different color for each weapon. For one example, there’s a green version of the Phantom Blade that could look cool if I want my outlaw rogue alt to have 1 blue weapon and 1 green one.
I can see the value of having both dw and 2h only needing 1 item to drop, but I don’t want it to come at the cost of limiting xmog options (where I can currently mog each weapon separately).
If you’re casual, shouldn’t you play Arms in PvP anyway? It’s both the better spec, and its tier set isn’t even nerfed in PvP–the only one, I think.
Fury was good last patch, so by Blizzard’s Unspoken Truth™ it has to suck this patch.
Honestly, I tried it and compared to how I play ret, fury seems so similar. Arms just feels uncomfortable. As a casual, the most comfortable and easy to use is my go to
Thank you for your responses guys. It does seem like a disadvantage to have to work twice as hard to get similar results, but I guess that’s how it is. I was curious of the opinion of other fury warriors and how they felt on this issue. If it bugs me too much I can go back to ret, deal with it or come back at the end of the next expansion and see if anything changed lol. The price to look cool with Two 2H weapons I guess
It can def be a time sink, but in most cases/ patches it can be worth it since fury tends to scale well. I don’t like how the cost is effectively double for the highest priced upgrades in the game which causes fury to be a super grindy class. All that and plus the axe grind for any 2 handed using class, fury alone does feel a bit taxing. If you’re casual I say keep playing for fun and don’t worry too much about the grind, but remember…the grind to power is all apart of the experience.
