I’ve not played Fury Warrior since Legion and this is the weakest melee class compared to my Ret Paladin. Back in Legion, Fury used to be extremely agile and I could chase down healers because that’s what the class is meant to do. Why did Blizzard nerf this class? It wasn’t powerful at all during the time.
There is currently no counter against Hunters and Mages as Fury. I am unable to hit them because they keep running away and there’s nothing I can do. I’ve never seen a melee class nerfed to the point its this bad, SWTOR’s Marauder class still keeps that ‘Fury’ gameplay and agility to hunt down healers and ranged classes.
A good mage can’t really be beaten 1v1 if they have all of their cooldowns. They have far more ways to counter gap closers than fury has gap closers. Hunters can be tricky, but are doable. They are typically very predictable on their freezing trap, so it can be reflected quite often. Use stormbolt as a gap closer, don’t double it up with your charge. Try to stormbolt or fear their disengage.
Fury can do massive damage with very little uptime, so if you connect you are going to be applying immediate pressure and they might panic.
I decided to quit playing Fury Warrior and just play Ret Pala. Difference is just night and day. And my Ret Pala has last season’s PvP gear yet still does more damage than my Fury Warrior.
Fury was really good for final stretch of last expac. Efforts to nerf it, combined with multiple classes picking up a lot of new tools from Dflight, have made it feel really bad to play
DK is in much worse shape, we got the same armor value nerf but everything in our toolkit has a 30-50% pvp nerf and we have practically no defensives or self healing.
in BGs there are builds for fury warrior that absolutely top the charts and destroy teams. when our fury warriors are in the match i won’t even get 4 buttons in to my initial setup before they have killed the entire enemy team.
Uh, I don’t know if it was their intention but Fury is quite bad, yeah. You can stack every modifier then 1-shot a few people with your double odyn’s, though, which can be fun.
i would certainly agree that the armor change was bad for all plate. but if blizzard considers the current flaming pile that is DK “viable”, then fury warrior doesn’t get to complain about being bad, its in a much better position than DK, so is Ret.
whens the last time balance was so wonky that arena and bgs are basically two different worlds? as much as everyone complains about DH all over the place, they aren’t really an issue in bgs, bgers all complain about MM.
and /tinfoilhat, if you play both, it certainly feels like they don’t play the same, almost like there is some remnant of bfa’s magic scaling or something in one that the other doens’t have.
It’s always kind of been that way, but I do agree the divergence between what is good in arena and what is good in BGs does seem to get wider as we get more expansions.
I also agree on DH. They aren’t tearing it up in randoms/Blitz like they are in arena. They are good, but they don’t tilt me at all.
