Fury warrior pulling aggro off tanks!

Hello fellow fury warriors. I have come across many videos displaying fury warriors over 1k dps in raids. I can pull 600 dps easily but I don’t know if I can do more due to placings 2nd place in the treat meter constantly, and ultimately dying from that.
I have to stop dpsing for about 15 seconds and continue with my rotation.
My question is, how can i dps with out pulling aggro? i have stopped using heroic strike and use cleave instead but even so, i still pull aggro. I know i can out dps rogues but this issue stops me from that.
Any suggestions, things i can do, or fix?
Please help a fellow warrior out!
Ps. things i forgot to mention i only run pots with guild buffs ( no world buffs or dm buffs).

Your tank needs to be fury/prot and carrying as many damage buffs as yourself into the encounter. Cleaving instead of using HS is an option, but you’re lowering your dps significantly by spending more rage for less bonus damage. Beyond that, you can have a LIP handy to suspend your threat at key moments.

You need to switch to fury/prot play tank and let the tank DPS.

As stated above, fury/prot is higher tps which lets dps actuallly dps. A lot of uninformed tanks are wearing full tank gear and doing minuscule threat. Tank gear provides you less rage and less damage done, which means less heroic strikes to generate threat.

Also, the threat different of cleave vs heroic strike is 20 tps

Pretty much this. People pulling top numbers and not pulling threat are playing with tanks who are pulling an incredible amount of threat.

Yeah, better tank or put in as much effort as him, i.e. just white hit and sleep.

I have a 60 rogue and I always pull off the tank with an ambush crit…but the tanks adjust and everything goes smooth until a 5 point eviserate crits…goods tanks recover…

Threat capping didn’t go away until Wrath, and even then arcane mages still pulled aggro and died a lot.

…if they are smart they learn, if not they die a few times and then leave group…win win…

Bear tanks do it better while still wearing mitigation gear. MCP ftw!

…LOLOL…my first guild in vanilla we had a warrior that would try to tank and he just wasn’t good…we all knew it but he didn’t…

Your tank is what has you bottlenecked, not your own DPS. You can’t go higher than the tank allows or you just pull the boss.

This just kinda hurt my eyes…

The tank can raise his threat by gearing and/or speccing differently, but at the expense of his survivability. If the healers are having trouble keeping him up, it may not be worth it if it leads to more wipes. The easier solution is for you to just be disciplined.

Unlike retail, threat is still a core mechanic in Classic, and DPS being disciplined and learning to manage it is just part of the game.

Also, every hybrid has a “tax” for their dps spec. For other hybrids, they do less damage, have sustainability problems, etc. For warriors, they do plenty of damage, but they don’t have a way of dropping threat, and their highest damage ability, Execute, also has a 1.25 threat multiplier. That’s their “tax” to try to keep them from being OP. Just have to learn to deal with it.

Your tank needs a thunderfury tbh.

That wep alone seems to be the key to keeping threat over higher dps warriors.

Thanks everyone for the advice!!! it was very helpfull

Your MT needs to git gud if they can’t hold 600 dps on the Alliance side. I was holding 600 dps on the Horde side as deep prot.
