My good friend who has been a FFXIV and EQ/EQ2 player for 10+ years is finally coming over to the dark side (his term).
He can’t ask since he doesn’t have a level 10 yet, so i am for him.
He went through a ton of videos to figure out what he wants to play… and yes, he right now has the “I only play one spec” frame of mind slo because of time to dedicate in game. So with that being said, his 2 favorite are WW Monk and Fury Warrior from what he has seen.
Which of the 2 specs are easier to master? Like making sure you are hitting all the cooldowns, doing the right attack when you get procs to maximize DPS and stuff like that? Obviously he is skilled and gets how to melee dps, I just want his first spec to be fun so he stays with it.
Only PVE, Mythic+ up to 10 I would guess, potentially some H Raiding but mostly WQ/Soloing.
My main is a ww monk and it’s pretty fun and easy as far as rotation.
I can’t speak for pvp But pve its pretty cool.
I recently got my 7 year-old son in Fury warrior He really got the hang of it and he Enjoys it, I actually play his character when I’m bored with my monk.
I would say fury warrior it seems a bit more fun To me and puts out decent damage with high level

Fury Warrior is where it’s at with their performance.

Things shift. Just try both out and have him stick with whatever he thinks is fun.
That MOG is epic… thx for the answer

Warrior is solid. We aren’t down for long and are a perennial favorite in pvp both ranked and unranked.
That being said I actually have more fun on my monk. I just have most of achievement progress on this toon so have decided hes my wow main.
Good Lord, I know this is hypocritical coming from someone without a chest piece mogged but your armor seems to be lacking a lot of defense for the squishy bits.
Lacking defense gives me more mobility. That exchange was the sacrifice.
Fury is much less complex in terms of rotation and resource management IMO.
WW Monk is a lot of fun, imo. It has a nice rotation of abilities, good self-heals, fun offensive CD’s, and effective defense/mitigation CD’s.
Plus, as others have said, if your friend wants to branch out from dps, MW is a great healing spec, and BM has been a solid tanking spec traditionally.
Please note: normally I’d have a little fun with this thread first by posting “fury warrior” on my WW monk, then posting “ww monk” on my fury warrior, but currently I seem to be unable to switch characters! Oh well!

WW has a slightly higher skill ceiling by virtue of being a hybrid. But in the end both are face smashers and he will get declined from any relevant end game pugs regardless of which he picks.
Monk has better xmog and a lot of mobility.
Charge, intercept, heroic leap. I’d say even. I think monk just has the benefit of a heal spec. I prefer fury over ww.
Roll, Roll, Flying serpent kick, tiger’s lust, and for good measure, a teleport.
I guess it depends more on if you like having big, visible weapons and bulky-looking armor, if you enjoy lighter armor models and less intrusive weapons.
Although we do get hulk fists… We also heal up from a kill.
WW monk for better dps. Not sure the the scale will be this time but WW monk tend to scale poorly but so far they are one one of the top dps and wanted class.
Fury warrior is decent but ST is lacking and as a warrior you might have a hard time pugging high keys.
Which xmog are you referring to? All the Monk xmogs I’ve seen are downright horrible. The elite plate PvP set from Season 1 SL is head and shoulders above anything Monk’s got.

Fury warrior is easier, and arguably safer to play.
Windwalker Monk is one of the more coveted melee DPS specs right now, second only to Unholy DK. WW has uncapped or pseudo-capped AoE, so if he plans to do solo M+ as a focal of his content he should play this.
Fury is worthless in PvP right now, but Windwalker is extremely strong. However, Arms warrior is top tier, but that’d require learning a different spec for him.
Now you’re just being rude. *tips rice hat and rolls away*
If you’re going to play either Fury or WW, be prepared to feel neglected 90% of the time, with a heroic moment every so often.
