Fury Warrior or Frost DK PvE

Anyone playing both and found one is more enjoyable than the other? Talking PvE only. I’ve found another discussion on this topic but it’s from June and obviously some changes have been made since then. Love AoE DPS melee builds, really enjoy having mobility. Fury wasn’t even touched on the latest patch, wondering if blizz is going to favor Warrior this xpac. Have never tried Warrior before and i’ve already gotten my frost DK to 577 ilev  Although i’m considering giving Warrior a shot.

Fury Warrior’s more fun, but both are extremely strong at basically the exact same stuff, down to having almost the exact same damage profile (45 seconds/1.5 minutes, high uncapped burst AoE).

For PvE (and putting numbers tuning aside for a sec), both fury and frost are very similar in profile. The main differences comes down to theme, utility, and damage “style”. Theme is a very obvious one, not going to really touch on that. Utility is another obvious one, but a little more nuanced. Do you like having more passive group buff, commanding shout, and leaps/charges? Or do you want more active utility like Grip, Anti-Magic Zone, abom limb, and ranged slows.

Lastly and probably the more important part is the damage profile. Both Frost and Fury have relatively short burst window cooldowns, with high aoe, and decent single target with. Outside of Cooldowns though, I would argue fury is a little higher dps while also needing more uptime. While Fury requires more uptime on target, there burst is also more “bursty” in that it is an incredible FAST burst window followed by high sustain, while Frost is a 17ish second burst window every 45 seconds that does MASSIVE amount of damage. That said, if the targets die in 10 seconds, Fury burst will feel better, but if targets die in 20 seconds, Frost might feel more interesting.

In a long fight they will be pretty much the same, but Frost definitly requires a little more understanding of procs, buff stacking, and very very slight positioning compared to fury’s buuuuuurt play style.

Frost DK is infinitely better than a Warrior. I have no idea what they said above me though. Sounds like geeky nerdy stuff where they looked at spreadsheets all day.

News flash, your on a WoW forum post. You are that geek/nerd.

That’s not true I’m the only cool guy here in shades.

If you can’t decide between the two then they are close enough that the most important factor is likely which off spec you like better.

I believe you.

I’m certainly not cool. I keep trying. Maybe that’s the problem.

Personally I prefer DK to Warrior aesthetics DK also has more survivability, imo. Fury is hella fun though and can deal a load of solid deeps. Play both and pick whichever one you like to look at most.

Thank you all for your input, and specifically Mortality for the specific breakdown. Ironically I went ahead and used my 70 boost on the warrior shortly after I created the thread, went from 70-80 in half a day with 28 dungeon ques. Loved the flow of fury more than i did on Frost DK. I nearly get the sense that Frost DK is a “middle ground” for feeling like your playing a caster but having no cast times on spell usage. Historically i’m a Prot Pally main. Have ran over 1050, 5 man dungeons as such. So sticking to the melee themed casts with Warrior has suited me very well. I’m actually giving Prot Warrior a try for the first time as of right now! Once a tank always a tank I suppose

Right now Frost DK is pretty heavy on a proc-laden playstyle, especially if you’re dual wield, though those are largely passive additions.

Fury feels more ‘consistent’ in the sense that you’re never starved for a resource.
