So comparing ret paladin to fury for a minute. All my spells just aoe on ret. Blade of justice, crusader strikes, judgment, and divine storm.
Why doesn’t fury just have aoe like this. I can’t stand the ww maintance buff for aoe. Zug zug it’s hard to count to four. But make ww hit hard and just let our abilities aoe please.
All melee players should try ret. Blizzard did an amazing job with it but we should all be asking for the improvements that ret got for our classes as well. Hopefully there are more reworks like this to follow.
Idk when I play fury before the ret rework I was hoping that ret got something like fury’s ww and now they did except everything does aoe.
It’s the same pretty much your builders on ret do like 50% of its damage to aoe and 100% on the primary target.
The buff tracking isn’t hard just get a WA for it.
I will say that the range on ret paladin now is where I think they can look to try and do something for other melees. Can do almost 100% of rets dps at 20 yards if playing the talent.
But how weird would it look that some melees are hitting mobs from 20 yards if their weapons/fists aren’t 20 yards lol
Imo if ret can do a lot of their damage from range then melees that don’t have that option should do more damage than ret. Similarly to how BM hunter can do 100% dps while moving imo they should be the weakest because they don’t have to stop for anything ie quaking, move from ground swirls, mobs aoe interrupt etc
Ideally this would be done. Kind of annoying how sometimes large mobs have the smallest hit boxes where you have to be damn near inside the mobs model to hit it
Been pvping for the most part of this xpac arms clearly has dis advantage when it comes to aoe. Throwing a WW in the rotation is a lot easier then waiting on sweeping strikes to come off CD. Besides i fill arms is more clunky a play style (effective) but clunky fury is smooth and very fun
No one is questioning the ease of use. It is one button. My claim is it isn’t fun and ret’s aoe model is much more fun.
My claim is fury warrior would be more fun if your spells just cleaved multiple targets by default. And ww was it’s “own” spell instead of an aoe gate keeping spell.
We already are seeing that. Watching a druid standing at a super safe distance and still having uptime, while I usually have to be within the mob’s circle at times. Biggest one that comes to my mind: the patrol that circles the Elemental boss in Nokhud. In order for to kick that cast, I need to be inside the mob’s model.
EDIT: I see this was mentioned a few posts down. lol
You know, that sums it up pretty perfectly.
True, a they could also make things a bit more uniform. The circle around the mob when you target SHOULD be the melee hit box. Some mobs have massive circles but you need to be in the mob, while others have smaller circles and can stand far back, (Hyrja being a prime example).
I don’t think they really need to go down the road of making everything just AoE. The Whirlwind buff is simple enough to track and maintain. The problem comes down to Whirlwind just hitting like a limb noodle. It’s only used to gain the cleave buff, that’s why Fury drops seismic talent almost instantly for anything else. Make Whirlwind hit harder and it wouldn’t be an issue.
Pretty much it in a nutshell. Like I said, I don’t mind WW giving us the cleave buff I just wish it would get it’s damage buffed. You know, so it actually is something more than just a buff button.
I don’t understand this sentiment. I want the class I play to be the most fun. If it plays similarly to another class I won’t even notice because I can’t play two characters at the same time. Diversity in gameplay is good but don’t sacrifice fun for it.
Meanwhile just because you wouldn’t notice doesn’t mean others wouldn’t. Just because you can’t / wont play 2 classes doesn’t mean others wont.
I for example currently like fury’s playstyle and other than buffing damage don’t want to to change to be closer to a paladin. Could some change be good? sure I won’t complain about changes but it doesn’t mean we need to be the same has paladins.
