Funny frost question

Is there ever a reason to swap weapons during combat? It was just a thought that crossed my mind. Kind of like stance dancing, but with a macro to change from DW to 2H and vice versa.

Thoughts? Maybe DW for the majority of your rotation, but put in a weapon swap macro into your spells to swap to a 2H for harder hitting Obliterates? I don’t know.

Thoughts? I know they generally tend to use slightly different builds, so maybe this wouldn’t really work.

Or maybe have a third 1H that has a different runeforge on it that you would swap to from time to time? Maybe during the Fallen Crusader ICD you swap to a second Razorice weapon?

The thought came to me because I just watched the Legion cinematic and saw Varian’s sword doing the whole 2H and DW thing. Was wondering if that kind of gameplay is even viable? Or like warriors who swap to sword and board to off-tank when their tank dies. Ect…

No, never. Swapping weapons triggers a 30s debuff where runeforges and their effects are disabled. Razorice falls off, Fallen Crusader can’t proc, etc.

Ah, so it does. That’s too bad. I just tested it in game, and it also seems to take up a GCD as well. I figured it wouldn’t.

It was for a bit, but the off balance debuff killed it.

In SL prepatch, we were running two razorice 1h and swapping to a fallen crusader 2h after we hit 5 stacks, and just using glacial to upkeep the stacks.

The problem was in pvp where we could run around with every runeforge and swap on demand to counter whoever we were fighting, so they added the debuff.

As for this, it’s an independent cooldown that has similar timing to the base gcd, so you can swap immediately after an ability to “skip” the downtime between the internal cd.

But on a dk, it’s worthless, and even warriors moved away from it for the most part because most talents lock you in to a playstyle.
